Seeing as how I had to sell my FDS and all of my games in May *sob*, I'm now trying to emulate it. I'm using FCEU as my emulator and was able to find all of the ROMs I wanted, with a couple exceptions. So first, here's my request:

Does anyone have the BIOS files for the FDS as well as the ROMs for Zelda, Zelda 2 and SMB 2 (which, if I remember correctly were all on the FDS originally) that they could send me?

Once I have the BIOS files, here's my other question: where do you put them in FCEU to get the ROMs to run?

Any help at all would be appreciated!

I have the bios file. I use Virtua NES which is better imo and I have those roms in a rar file. If you have aim I can send the files to you on there or I can send them to you over irc.

Actually, I don't use either. I use YIM, or if possible, could you just send them to me in an email? Address is axelay@ureach.com

I wish I would have known you sold your FDS stuff.

Anyhow, Sorry, but, that is all I have to add.

Believe me, I didn't WANT to *grumble*... but it was something I had to do. Most of it went to a local collector.

Thanks!

edit: hmm, it hasn't come through. It may have accidentally been deleted if it did. Any chance you could try sending it again?

As long as you have the FDS bios rom in the same folder as the FCE Ultra emulator, it should work fine. Just try opening an FDS rom and the emu should load it up. To change disk sides in FCE Ultra, hit f8 to "eject the disk", then hit f6 to choose a side, then when you have the side you want hit f8 again.

www.planetemu.net is a good place to get FDS games. There are multiple copies of some of the games. If you download a rom and it doesn't work and there's another copy of it, try that one as well. Only one copy of Exciting Soccer, for example, worked. The other two didn't get past the insert side B screen.

Thanks for the tips, Arnold. Once I get the bios, I'll have to try this out...

Got it this time! Thanks gary!

Okay, now I seem to have a problem. The "please set disk card" screen comes up, but for some reason I can't get the games themselves to load. I tried what Arnold said, but it didn't do jack. I'm also getting a popup that says "error writing fds image".

Help!

Have you thought about maybe tring anoter emulator that plays FDS games? I use to use FWNES some years ago and never had any problems with FDS emulation.

I have no problems using that same bios with VirtuaNES.

Hmm. That's odd, as that method should work. In most games when you reach a "insert side B" screen hitting f8 should cause a message to appear saying "Disk 0 Side A Ejected". Then hitting f6 should say "Disk 0 Side B Selected". Then hitting f8 again should insert side B, and the game is supposed to load after that. If that isn't working, I don't know what to do as I've never had that problem personally. The only time I have is when the FDS rom was corrupt.

If you can't get FCE Ultra to work, I guess you should give Virtua Nes a try. I've never used that emu so I know nothing about it. I would advise not using FWnes, as I remember that emu giving me a lot of trouble in the past. Used to frequently crash on me.

FWNES always worked great for me and I never had a problem with it crashing. Maybe you had a problem with it cause it's a DOS emulator. I've never used Virtual NES so I can't offer much help on it.

If anyone has the "NAZO NO MURASAME" fds rom, I'd greatly appreciate it.
