Hi there all another post from me :),

Well basically ill jump straight into it

I want a decent machine with good games on it

I am considering one of

Megadrive(Genesis)
Snes
Saturn
N64
Dreamcast

Im not sure what to go for but i would like decent run and gun games and good shoot em up

unfortunatly the PC Engine was not released here in the Uk

i basically just want a good console with fun games lol

also i am considiring budgets aswell although not much of a problem since most are pretty cheap

At the mo N64 has the most games i want to go for but its not a nice slice of retro action as how i want it

Mainly im probably gunna go for Megadrive/Saturn although.... i have not seen any decent Shoot em ups in the PAL region (since i can't pay a bomb on import fees)

The Genesis (MegaDrive) is a good place to start. :)
Top 50 Genesis Games (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1565)

As you get more into collecting work your way up the Sega family and get a Saturn and DC too.

Is there any need to create several topics all asking the same question?

As several people have told you already, the best value console with lots of shooters out of those you list is the Megadrive.
Loads of great shmups, almost all easily available for minimal expense - a console should cost no more than £5-£10 and there's at leasta dozen good shooters to be had for under a tenner.

The SNES & Dreamcast are decent second-choices, but will cost slightly more and don't have as many readily available shmups.

The Saturn has shit-tons of great shooters, but they're almost all Jap-only.

Can't think of any retro-style shooters on the N64.

Ooh, lesse.... how about Herzog Zwei (one of the earliest forerunners of RTS-type games), Cannon Fodder, Dune II, General Chaos, Syndicate or King's Bounty to name a few.

I think the 'one with hitler' you referred to is one of Koei's several Jap-only
strategy games.

Or Operation Europe, which did come out outside of Japan ;)

Genesis

Pure Stratedgy War games: Genghis Khan 2, Gemfire, Romance of the Three Kingdoms series (1, 2 and 3 I think are available for genny), Operation Europe, liberty or death are All really hard indepth Koei titles.

RPGish Stratedgy titles: Pirates! Gold, New Horizons, Uncharted Waters, Warsong

Tactical RPGs: Shining Force, Shining Force 2

PTO came out for Genesis too, but I don't know if that was a UK release as well.

PTO 2 on SNES/Saturn blew it out of the water, anyway.

well it looks like the word on the street is the Mega Drive and I would have to agree. It is my all time favorite system. I would also agree with the prevous post of working your way through the Sega systems. You might even want to go back and pick up a Master System.
