Still no date or launch library list yet.
Also, they changed the design. It actually looks cooler! I can't wait for this now... not that I couldn't wait before. But now I really want to spend that um.. whatever it'll be.
WOW soo much better. I knew Nintendo would change the design to a sleeker look. I want to know the price though before I plege my alligence to the system.

Hehe, I dont know why I came in expecting it to be different. The design does look a little sleeker. As far as the system.....meh, who knows.

It looks nice, but I'm disappointed that they didn't add an analog control to it. I'm not sure how using the stylus for 3D movement is going to work out.

The new look isn't any better to me. Now it looks like a Nintendo DS instead of something I could sneak into meetings and say it's an Address book/PDA/Touch Screen Fast Food device.
It looks a little larger also, but looking at where the controrols are, it's identical (Except Star/Select have been Mirrored to the other sides).
Of course it's known as the DS. I's already been given that name by all gamers. Even if they changed the name, people wouldn't call it anything different. You have to rename things early. I don't anyone that still calls the GameCube the Dolphin!

Call me a fan boy all you want. But in the looks categorie that system poops all over the PSP. I kinda liked teh old design just as much. They went for a more futuristic look here, and captured it but it looks a little chunkier. :o Still looking foward to it. :D

Yes, and the D-pad has been fine and dandy for those 2D games. From what I've seen, they intend to develop 3D games for the system.
I do belive the styilus goes in that slot in the front. And the cart load in the back.

I like the new design a hell of a lot better than the old one. I do still wish it had an analog stick though. It probably won't be a problem, considering I have played some 3D games with a D-Pad and not had problems.

As far as I remember, there are 2 cart slots...1 on the bottom and 1 on the top of the system (1 for DS, 1 for GBA). The stylus slides into a hole on the side of the system. At least thats the way it was before the redesign. I'm not completely sure though.

Two things...
1) what's the scale for this? My #2 complaint for the GBA is even with the redesign, it's still uncomfortable for my hands.
2) show me the games! My #1 complaint for the GBA...there just isn't that much I want to play on the system (though I do loves me some Pinball of the Dead.)

Very nice! :D
I think the release date is sometime n November. I could be wrong though. Heres a link to some of the games being released for the DS, maby some on release day! :D Prices aren't final though.

I liked it better before honestly :(
Kinda reminded me of the NES design, now it looks like a brand new car someone is trying to make look fancy just so I'll buy it.

Kinda lumpy bumpy on the outside. I'd prefer it to be smooth. Looks nice, though. I can't get too excited until I see some games, and I refuse to buy it until I can get it for under 100 bucks (unless a tri-Ace game comes out for it, hehe).

Doesn't that mean that the promo DS that was at E3 will be worth $$$$ if anyone can find it??
(DS at E3) I wonder was that really just a quick mock-up so ninty had something to show off at E3 and the "New" DS design Just wasn't ready in time?
Or as someone mentoned maybe it was to keep up with Sony's PSP? who knows the design could be tweeked again before it goes on sale?
I hope Ninty keep up this kind of pace!.. (maybe crush sony along the way :P )

My #1 complaint for the GBA...there just isn't that much I want to play on the system (though I do loves me some Pinball of the Dead.)
Jesus Christ, Capt.! There's only, what, a million games for the gba.. and 10 million more GB and GBC games you can play on it too. My problem with it is that there's too many games, I dont know what to get.
Looks very nice, although I liked the other design better. I can't wait for some of the games coming out for this thing(Super Mario Bros. NEW,Metroid Prime:Hunters,Super Mario 64x4)!

After looking at the new design again it appears that the slot on the bottom is for the GBA games. If this is true then the system should be only slightly larger width wise than the original GBA. Also, it looks like it will be as slim as the GBA SP. Of course we won't know until we actually see the actual unit being held by someone, but it looks ok to me.

In the past I always buy GBA games because of how convienent they are but to be honest there aren't alot of games I can really say I enjoy that much. I never seem to get real lost in a GBA game. But from what I have heard and seen, looks like the DS games will really hook me. Double Dash!!, Animal Crossing, the new metroid. This systems games look like they will be great. I am really looking foward to this system. Definatly time to place a reserve so im not stuck driving around looking for one 2 days after launch like I was with the SP. Hey I found it though. :D

I've found most of the GBA games I actually want to play are rereleases of games I enjoyed back in the day. I take a look at some of the other games out for the GBA now and am not impressed with the graphics. The Super Mario Advance games look nicer. But games like Shrek and even Harvest Moon (Which looks worse than an SNES game. The SNES version of the original HM looked so much nicer.) look crappy.
But the DS. I can see a lot I will be buying within the first month or two. As long as they are out.
With my luck, NEW SMB and Animal Crossing will be delayed to next year like 6 months after the release. Oh well.. I just with they would give us a final date and price already.

NICE! even know it looks like the the old model at E3 it looks like the guys at Nintendo took the little of the bulk off the old DS and made it sleeker, nicer, more futuristic, and better then before!! :D
My thoughts is that the "old DS" was not entirely finished yet as far as the outer casing by the time of the E3 convention they had to make the outer casing so they just made a "sub casing" for it because they wanted a sleeker look but it was not enough time so they came and made the best they could think of at the time. But afterwards they thought of a better casing and their it is!! :D
But this is just what I think! :hmm:

This new design is pretty spiffy looking, but as long as it plays great games, I could care less.
But, that's not how the mainstream works, so this new sleek shiny look will hopefully bring more of the mainstream and Sony boys over to Nintendo's camp.
They're attracted to shiny objects.

I just hope that they don't do the same thing that they've been doing for years now with the Gameboy. They'll release a "plain vanilla" DS on launch day and then like every other month they'll release a new "special edition" version. First they'll go through every color in the rainbow and then they'll move on to themed ones and then maybe one that glows in the dark and then one with better batter life and so on and so on and so on. It totally discourages me from buying anything from them until its been out for at least a year or so.

Hello Nintendo fanboys. Anyone dislike this system?
I dunno. I had a hard time with the previous design- it was a little blocky and dull- but it smacked nicely of the old Game and Watch.
My problem with this design is that it looks like if you added a cell phone it would be a Nin-Gage. Too silvery and Nokia-esque. I think the SP is just a fantastic design. This is kind of sharp edged.
I really like the PSP (original Ben Heckendorn design) http://consoledatabase.retrofaction.com/consoleinfo/psp/ but I REALLY like Sony's PSP's look, and better than this DS thing. Ok, so it looks like a doggy bone. No matter, the thing is sexy and DOESN'T look like a cell phone. Because cell phones aren't fun. They make alot of noise (NOT gaming noise) and the games are just mediocre. I mean, who cares about N-gage? (I would like to collect the thing, but I haven't decided if I care enough.)

Hello Nintendo fanboys. Anyone dislike this system ... I REALLY like Sony's PSP's look, and better than this DS thing.
Ditto. The PSP design exudes "classic." The DS ... hmmm ... to me it's just another handheld. I personally like the GBA SP shell far better than this new DS shell.
P.S. There's an interesting article about both systems from one developer's standpoint in this month's Game Informer. Oh yeah, you don't need to flame me telling how much you hate the magazine either, ok?

LOVE the much-improved D-pad and buttons. They were flimsy and microscopic on the E3 demo units, which I assumed at the time was because Nintendo wanted to emphasize the touch-screen function.
LOVE the new look. Retro-gamers might've dug the Game & Watch-esque look of the E3 demo units, but Nintendo wasn't aiming for retro (or, if it was, wisely changed its mind).
DS vs. PSP is going to be the best hardware war since SNES vs. Genesis.

AM I the only one who doesn't see what's so cool about this new design? It seems very meat and potatoes to me....nothing really innovative except that it has two screens. It only looks like a Game and Watch. It just really doesnt look that cool. I'm sure it will be plenty of fun, but it just looks so BLAH.
In the looks department, the PSP has the DS's ass whipped, imo, not that that really matters for gameplay, heh heh...we'll see, I guess.

the only little most littlest worry which is about the backwords compatibility that its only for GBA, but then again nintendo or some other company that makes game system accessories will probably make a transfer device so it will be possible to use older games!!!!
