Should be getting Interplanetary Voyage for the Magnavox Odyssey in the mail soon. I know nothing about how the game is played (though I'm certain it will have something to do with three dots and maybe a line) but I just HAD to get it because: 1) there seem to be very few around and 2) it looks REALLY cool. Very excited.

Very excited. Lost out on Brainwave because of a 2 year-old daughter and my mouse hand going numb, but still managed to pick up W.I.N. (for admittedly more than I wanted to pay). That's 2 out of 4 of the 1973 games. Woot!

For those keeping track: I've got the packed-in 12, Percepts and I've paid for and am waiting on Invasion, Interplanetary Voyage and W.I.N.

I'm still looking for the five remaining extra games of 1972, the Shooting Gallery and 1973's Basketball and Brainwave. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

After I get these I can start collecting for the Fairchild Channel F! Yes, I'm doing it chronologically. :P

Are you really going to collect chronologically? That's a pretty friggin cool way to do it. Although it would be weird to be getting 1-2 games a month, and then 50 games in a week when you moove on to the next system :)

Advice: Never brag about your deal until you have it in hand. No ill will or secret meaning there are far as this item is concerned, but just a good rule of thumb. :)

Yes, I'd like to acquire/play/sell everything chronologically. I should make it clear that I'm not "collecting" per se. When I'm done with something, (even my Holy Grail) I'm going to try to trade or sell it again. It would take me waaaay to long to amass enough money to "own everything", but I might be able to afford to "own everything at least once".

Actually, the "owning everything at least once" isn't even necessary, I'd be happy if I could get people to trust me enough to loan me some of their really hard to find stuff, then I wouldn't have to go through the sweat and tears of ebay. That being said, if anyone wants to *lend* me their copy of Odyssey Basketball or Brainwave, I'd take good care of them! I'd scan the overlays and instructions, take pictures of all the little accessories and I'd send them right back, I'd even include a CD-Rom with all the scans and pictures on it. I'd pay shipping both ways! I may actually put a plea like this in the Buying and Selling forum in the future.

I have gotten "stuck" on hard to find items (like Interplanetary Voyage and now Basketball/Brainwave) so I might jump a little ahead. (I've already started hunting for Channel F and RCA Studio II stuff) If I find a good deal on something "in my future", I get it now, but I'm not really going to play it (or resell it) until I've reached the end of its life. Hence I've got a big pile of stuff waiting for me. I don't want to think about what I'm going to have to do when personal computers start to come out (in my timeline). Do I really want to hunt down a TRS-80 and play its games? Not sure, but it's not a definite "no way".

So, right now I'm living in the Summer of 1977. I'm playing Pong and the Odyssey and I'm looking forward to getting one of those groovy Fairchild Channel Fs that plays multiple cartridges! I hear it even has a pause feature! Waaaay cool! I also hear that Atari and Magnavox are coming out with cart based machines!

Anyway, you get the idea. It's fun and hopefully by re-selling everything again I'll be able to do it with a small pile of regenerating money (even though I expect it to dwindle from shipping costs).

That's good advice, I just have no one else to tell who would even remotely understand! I sorry if it sounded like I was bragging, I'm just really excited.

You're right though, if the deal falls through, I'm going to wish I'd never said anything! LOL

I second that Portnoyd, i have seen a few people here, say and do the same thing, and if it goes wrong we get the "I got scammed thread"

Thats not to say it will happen here, but wait the item is in your hand!.. I think counting your chickens before they hatch is the phrase! that fits best! ;)

Hey, just a follow up. I actually DID get Interplanetary Voyage and the other two in my hands today. It's neat to hold Odyssey Cart #12 and say, "y'know according to some web pages out there, there were only about 5 known copies of this thing until recently . . ." (And my son practically yawns and asks if he can play Super Smash Bros Melee since it seems I'm going to be busy with this #12 cart for awhile.)

I'm sure most of you have already had a similar experience with acquiring some other R9 cart, so please don't think of this as "bragging." It's just that when I started acquiring Odyssey stuff in 2002, I really thought the only games I'd ever see for it would be the dozen that came with it. I did feel like I'd be able to get the shooting gallery or game pack #1 pretty much anytime I had the cash, but Percepts and the 1973 games seemed forever out of reach. Consequently, I didn't feel compelled to continue collecting anything else for it as I thought since I'd never get those 5 rare games, why bother?

Anyway, after getting Percepts and two of the 1973 games, I'm beginning to feel that actually getting a chance to play all the games of the Odyssey is possible. Of course, finding people willing to play them with me is a completely *different* challenge, but at least it's a possibility.

(Again, not because these games are absolutely Must-Play blockbusters, but because they're the Firsts. The baby-steps of the industry, if you will.)

Anyway, yay for this hobby.

Thanks! Sorry, I'm really slow at this, but I finally found out where my web space was and I think this will work.

this link worked when I put it in. Now yahoo has done something and it doesn't work. I am not happy about this. :(

I hope to have Basketball and Brain Wave next week, which will complete my Odyssey collection. Then I will post a picture orgy, as it will be my first time I ever finished anything. Yeah, I think I mean that literally. (never finished college, never finished watching Star Blazers, never finished Pitfall!, never finished doing the dishes, never finished this sentenc) It may inspire me to actually start finishing other projects!
