I have played a few of the megaman games but never beat one, never really tried. I just got megaman 3 and decited to play it. I got through about 4 bosses and couldnt get any farther. I know I could have went back and got some energy tanks but didnt feel like it. Then I put in the game genie with infinite health and infinite lives. I got through all 8 bosses and then there are 4 new levels with 2 bosses in each one from megaman 2!? What the hell? I then beat those and get to the castle and get to the last boss. The 2nd part of it took about 15 minutes!!! Then the last part was easy but damn! It took about an hour and 15 minutes to go through that game with a game genie!! Those levels were kinda tough with a game genie, I cant even imagine beating that game without one....holy hell. Its cool they have passwords though so you can continue from where you left off.

Well anyways, what megaman games have you beaten? Which ones cant you beat? Which one do you think is the hardest?

The MegaMan series is just so damn unforgiving :frustrated: . But it stayed true to the "You gotta have the timing and reflexes or your gonna die" like old arcade games. My 3rd favorite game series.

I don't think they are that hard

I don't think I ever finished 5 so I don't know about that one. But I beat them all when I was kid. I played through Megaman 2 just last week with no problem at all. This is coming from somebody who considers himself to not be that good at videogames. It's deffenetly a series where the more you play it the easier it gets.

The NES Mega Man games are definitely quite tough, but it's nothing compared to stuff like Mega Man X6 and Mega Man and Bass. I've beaten all 6 NES Mega Man games with no Game Genie, and I couldn't beat more than one or two bosses in MM & Bass.

I seem to remember MM4 being one of the harder ones, but I can't remember how 5 and 6 were, comparatively.

The megaman games are damn tough. But I think they are all easy compared to Mega Man. OMG. I beat all the robot masters then I tried to beat willy's stage level 1, where you fight the cyclops thing that flies across the room from side to side by teleporting into little peices. I just couldn't do it...I can usually get any boss after a few tries but this one just slaughtered me over and over. I don't even know how tough the next 5 or whatever prelude levels to the final boss are.

I will try to beat megaman 3 without the game genie sometime. But definately not for a few weeks.

One and three are the hardest games in the series by far. Three because theirs so many frearking boss fights and one because it nigh impossiable to beat it with out the pause tricks.

The 1st mega man game for Gameboy is FRIGGIN IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!! I consider myself a mega man veteran, as I have beaten nearly all of the games. However, I can only beat one Boss in this game (Elec man) and just barely, at that. I can't even make it up to the others!

Definity the first one. I've beaten it many times back in the day with out the pause trick or a game genie. The Rock Boss isn't that bad. You just have to get the timing down dowe when those little rock parts fly across the screen. Sometime just playing it in a emulator and having a save state before that part can help out a lot. For the person that mentioned about it there are 3 area after that part. You have to fight the 6 robots all again. 2 in the 2nd area and the other 4 in the fourth area. The Clone of yourself can sometimes be just as hard as Wily or the Rock Monster boss. There also is a Bubble Boss that isn't too bad. The Wily fight you basically have 2 forms you have to beat on one life bar.

MM2 is probably by far the easiest one. Probably because of how hard the first one was. I've played them all and other than part 1 there difficulty is about the same. You also don't have energy Tank in MM1 which makes it a little harder.

Mega Man series hasn't been hard for me, I have finished Mega Man 1-2-3-4 and 6 ( I never played 5) and I owned the Import on MegaDrive (Rock Man in The Wily Wars, which gives it a twist on the difficulty)

To say the least, Mega Man 1 is the hardest, because compared to the rest, the only disadvantage is no enegry tanks in Mega Man 1. I think the next 5 in the series made us a little too reliant on these. Mega Man 4 is my personal favorite, 6 was a little too easy for me, 3 offers a solid challenge, 2 is always so damn fun. I still wish I could play part 5 someday...

MM5 was a pain in the ass for me, I don't think I ever finished it.

1 was a pain in the ass, but it wasn't too bad. 6 was a cakewalk...I'd hesitate to call that hard by any stretch of the imagination. Too bad too, it had those sweet Rush powers.

The first Megaman was the toughest to me. I can't beat the Yellow Demon/Devil without the pause glitch.

I was able to beat Megaman 3 on one life.

Mega Man games are only hard if you impose challenges on yourself. Granted I only currently own MM 2 (thanks downfall!), and I don't remember much from when I was a child, so they could be hard.

Some things to add some difficulty:
Don't use any weapons/power-ups unless neccesary. IE the areas where you HAVE to use Rush to continue. I've beaten MM 2 this way, and its much more rewarding.

Try different methods of play. My greatest gaming accomplishment of all time was beating Air Man and his stage using only my big left toe and my nose. How many people can say that? Probably about as many people that can say their nose hurt for a week after smashing it onto an unforgiving NES controller for over an hour.

If I could pick all of them, except Mega Man 6, I would.

All of them are pretty much hard to me. Except 6. Why are the last three, 6, 7, and 8, so easy, compared to the first 5?

But anyway, my answer would have to be... one.

It just pisses me off, when I come so close to beating IceMan, and he kills me in three hits. I hate it when I get so close to beating FireMan, and he kills me. I can't even get up to ElecMan. Fortunately, I have beaten GutsMan, CutMan, and BombMan. But it's just those last three that are such a pain! especially because Mega Man can't slide or charge up yet.

No way man, I can beat that game in my sleep. I think the fastest time I've beaten it is 23 minutes or something. Excellent game, just takes a little practice.

For those 3 stages your having a problem. It's best if you do them in a certain order as each boss is weak against a certain weapon.

The first one is the hardest by far for the Nes. I have beaten it without cheating though. I don't think it is the hardest MM game overall X6 is nuts the end is easy but getting there is insane I finally managed to beat it with X and Zero very rewarding. Mega Man and Bass is by far the most unforgiving, that game is torture every level of the way. I get up to King and get sluaghtered by his first form every time. Eventually I will beat it. I found I can finish most games if I put my effort into it. I have finished Ninja Gaiden I and II, Spelunker, Journey to Silius, X Men Mutant Apocalypse, I can finish almost every Battletoads game with ease except for the gamegear version. I am working on Snake Rattle n' Roll, Cobra Triangle, and MM and Bass. Anyone who has trouble with Mega Man games just put your heart into it, Don't Cheat, and you'll be victorious.

I beat MM 2-6 on the NES in my teens with no cheat devices, or any other help when I was in my early teens with no trouble. I really never thought any of them were terribly difficult.

I just beat the first MM on Collections a few hours ago. It was the first time I ever played it, and I did beat it in one sitting (a very long sitting, mind you), but I had to resort to the pause trick to beat the the first boss in Wily's stage, the clone and Wily (yes, the pause trick is still in there, it's just done differently). MM1 is without a doubt the hardest of the NES MM's. The lack of energy tanks really makes a difference, and while I did beat it in one sitting, the lack of a password is a major suck.

I have fond memories of 1 and 2...I playd the shit out of them and have beaten either of them on one life. Once you know what weapons to use against who, the games are way easy. # or 4 is probably the hardest, but any game in the series from 2-6 didn't take me longer than a day and a half to beat. None of them are really that hard...1 took longer for me because I was NES newb back when it weas released...I think it took me 3 days.

All of the NES games are relatively easy. As a kid I never had trouble beating them. I didn't own any of them on the NES, but my friends had MM1 through 3 so I was able to borrow them and beat them, then 4 through 6 I just rented and were able to beat before I had to return them.

Now the Zero games on the GBA and Rockman and Forte on the SNES... those are some damn hard games.

I have not played to many Mega Man games, but of the ones I have played I would have to say MM1. I will probably pick up Mega Man Collection for the GC some time soon. It has been a long time since I have played the games as well, so they might be easier(after playing MS3 on the XBOX, what game wouldn't seem easy LOL ). BTW, what is the pause trick?

Use the Thunder Beam and when it begins to go through the MM clone, repeatedly hit the select button. This trick also works well on Ice Man and the Rock Monster (the first Wily boss).

When you shoot an enemy right when it hits hit repeadidly hit pause to take off more and more damage.

Megaman, although difficult in some respect, is one of the easier game series to me. Seriously, try to beat Contra or Ninja Gaiden, and you'll agree that there are more frustrating challenges. But for Megaman, I'll go for the popular vote, MM1. No passwords, no sliding, no Rush, no freaking energy tanks... yep, not a cakewalk.

Mega Man 1 is probably th emost unforgiving even if you use the pause trick. MM3 is easy for me, except for fighting a couple RMs. 4-6 upped the ante for me considering that's when they started the "2 final castle" ordeal and your passwords only save at the start of the 1st castle, and usually you gotta go back and gather Energy Tanks before hand.

MM2 and MM3 were very easy for me. MM2 was way too easy. MM3 has some semi-difficult parts in the middle part of the game (Doc Robot stages), but Wily's castle was WAAAAAAAAY easy.

MM4 I have not beat because I hate the controls on that game.

Not the same. You could not slide in the first two, though you could do in the previous game (MM3). My problem with the controls is that powered up shot....yes. The thing works like crap. Sometimes it powers up first press/hold, sometimes you have to try it twice...hard to explain. It was actually good in MM5, though. :)

NONE of the NES Megamans are hard to me. Shoot, I even love disappearing block patterns so much that I dont even use moving platforms or jets.

MM1: I've been beating the Rock Monster the hard way since I was 10 years old. That's because for all these years until I was introduced to the internet, I never knew the select button existed.

MM2: Got a Game Players Tips Video Tape on how to play megaman 2 before I actually played the game. So I studied it.

MM3: The hardest thing on 3 were the Doc Robot stages. But several times I beat the whole game in one sitting with 27 lives (Gemini Man stage) and 10 e-tanks. Died only one time by Doc-Quick Man trying to find out what weapon he's weak against.

MM4: I used a guide for this. However, I was stumped on final wily, it took me awhile to figure out how to hit him.

MM5: I thought this was the easiest. The many forms of Darkman are a little too predictable.

MM6: No comment.

I agree with the majority that the first game is the hardest. I have not gotten very far in 3 or 4, but I think it is mostly because I don't like these two as much as the rest of the series for some reason. They just feel.......uninspired. Especially the 4th one, I can't exactly describe it, but there is something about that game that just turns me off.

I think 2 is the easiest, although 5 & 6 are not that difficult either (at least compared to the first one). Personally, I think that these are the three best games in the series. I have no knowlege on Mega Man games outside the NES; the only non-NES Mega Man game I have is the first Mega Man X for SNES.

I would say MM 5 is the toughest, and MM 2 is the easiest. MM 1 is the second easiest: You don't need the pause trick for any of the bosses, just the right weapon. Of all the Mega Man games, I think MM 1 features bosses that are the most vulnerable to a particular weapon. Most of them go down in 3 hits, while one guy goes down in two hits (by throwing the two rocks in the room at him). MM 1 has the fewest stages, some of the shortest stages, the easiest bosses, the best item (magnet beam nullifies all difficult jumps/pits), and the easiest final boss. It's all about your approach.

Professor Hector
09-07-2004, 05:46 PM
The first Megaman was the most difficult for me. Not so much due to the bosses, but because of the unforgiving stage layouts. The fourth one was challenging at times as well, but I found the others to be pretty easy for the most part. The second and third games are paticularly easy; most of MM2's bosses can very easily be beaten with your regular weapon, and MM3 tosses energy tanks at you on a constant basis and has the easiest Wily levels out of any of the games IMO.

I have beat 3 without codes by the way. Just takes longer then the first one. Once I figured out their weekness's it was easy, like 2-3 hits for most bosses.

Mega Man (the first) is wicked wicked tough.

2 and 3 are pretty easy and I can beat them in a single sitting and in relatively short time. (after struggling to beat them for the first time as a kid, it was disappointing to do it in such simple fashion many years later!)

4 returns to the hardness and 5 and 6 are of medium difficulty.

But overall nothing compares to the frustration of the first Mega Man (nothing also compares to how dorky MM looks on the label for the first game either!)

Mega Man 1 for sure. Not only is there no energy tanks and no passwords...but the play control isn't as "fine tuned" as it is in other Mega Man games.

Since I'm on the subject...I think Mega Man 3 is the easiest. I don't know why, but I've always had a very easy time making it through that game. It was the first Mega Man I played back in the day (I was 7 or 8) and I beat it after only renting it a couple times. Nowadays...I can easily get through that game without loosing a single life.

Ruudos

Mega Man (1) is the hardest of these games. After that comes part 4, the bosses take much more hits in that game when you use your standard gun if you compare it to the rest of the series.

Part 2 and 6 are the easiest.

Mega Man 1 is by far the hardest for me. You don't have a mega blaster, you can't slide, there are no energy tanks and there is no password. The gameplay is also much harder. I died like 15 times in a row on that stupid Gutsman stage where you have to jump on the moving platform.

I've beaten every regular Mega Man game except for Rockman and Forte. However I think MM1 is by far the hardest MM game around. You have no energy tanks in the game, and there's no password feature. It's from start to end or nothing at all. The Dr. Wily bosses can be brutal if you don't know the lil trick w/the select button, where you pause the game after you have a shot make contact and gain repeat hits from a single shot. Even with that trick the game can be quite cruel.

I'm gonna have to say the first Mega Man game because I've never beaten it. All of the original games are very hard but that one takes the cake. I remember seing a Mega Man Icons episode on G4tv and someone commenting on how harder the Mega Man x series was from the original. I highly disagree. The original series is by far way harder than the X series.

One. It may not of had as many bosses, but it did have lots of ways to die. I threw my controller across the room many a time as a kid.
