Since I recently got a card converter for my TG-16, I've been opened up to the wonderful world of imported PC Engine and HuCard Japanese games, which are surprisingly easy to get on eBay (lots of sellers and lots of selection). So far I've picked up Racing Damashi, Bomberman 93, and Parodius. What import titles would you recommend for a diehard TG fan like me? :)

Most of the shooters are pretty good. I'd get any of the soldier games that you don't have. I remember Final Soldier was import only and Soldier Blade is generally much easier to get as an import. Worse case if you don't like any of them you could just dump them back on Ebay and get your money back for them.
as for non shooting here's a few of my favorite
Aoi Blink
Bikkluriman World
Legend of Valkyrie
Merchen Maze
Mizabuku Adventure
Ninja Ryuyuken
Psycho Chaser
Shinobi
Son Son 2

Thanks for the tips! I was watching a copy of Son Son at one time, but for some reason wasn't sure about it and didn't bid before it closed. Now I have that and some more titles to look out for. :)

Is this Japanese R-Type different from the North American release?

Yes and no
The Japanese hucard R-Type was split into 2 games. R-Type 1 had levels 1-4 and R-Type 2 had levels 5-8. The US hucard had all 8 levels one 1 hucard. One of the few times when the US version is better than the Japanese version.
There's also is R-Type Complete that was released on CD format. I don't know what is really different from other version other than it has remixed music.

that's hard to call, cause 90% of my Turbo stuff is Japanese, and I have a Japanese Turbo Duo system.
I'll just go ahead and list all my imports.
>Hucard: Youkai Douchuuki, Ninja Warriors, Super Momotarou Dentetsu II
>CD, *=some are CD-R's unfortunately: Advanced VG*, Dracula X* Brandish, Fighting Street/Street Fighter 1, K.O. San Senshi/Century Beast*, Record of Lodoss War II, Red/Last Alert, snatcher*, Tengai Makyo/Far East of Eden: Fuun Kabuki Den, Valis IV

I recently got R-Type Complete and I have to say I prefer the US hucard version. The graphics are better, but you have to put up with delays whenever the CD loads. The audio is better, but the new music is awful and you wouldn't want to listen to it anyway (at least that's my impression from only playing the first stage). They also added a really long intro which could be considered an improvement, but of course it's all in Japanese (and did R-Type need a background story anyway?)

I thought the remixed music was kind of nice. I still prefer the original game music too but it's kind of a nice exclusive thing for that version.
Most of the CD shooters added those intros. There nice to have but I'll probably only watch them once and than skip past them any other time I play the game.
