I love tri-Ace because it's not an option to NOT love tri-Ace. I breathe, eat, sleep, dream, think tri-Ace. Every single day of my life since I fell in love with tri-Ace is filled with it. If I'm not playing the games, I'm listening to the music, reading the comics, talking about it, working on my site about it, writing a review or FAQ on one of the games, etc. It's truly an obsession, and I have put thousands of dollars into it. Nothing in gaming has ever brought me this much joy.

tri-Ace may seem like a weird choice because this tiny company has only released 5 games (two in the US so far), but boy, what they have done with those 5. tri-Ace is the king of RPG innovation. When everyone else was playing yet another traditional turn-based RPG or another RPG with the ATB system, tri-Ace was reinventing the genre. Always pushing the limits of technology, it is no coincidence that Star Ocean is among the 3 largest SNES/SFC games, Star Ocean: Blue Sphere is the largest Game Boy Color game, and Valkyrie Profile is one of the most visually stunning 2D PlayStation games. And this is not even factoring in their history, in which as Wolf Team they created many innovative games in other genres such as El Viento and Sol-Deace.

Innovative, complex, challlenging gameplay with an unlimited number of things to do; stunning graphics; superb soundtracks by Motoi Sakuraba; endearing, unusual characters; and many other reasons is why tri-Ace is the best to me and why I NEVER get tired of the games, even after hundreds of hours put into each. And heck, you gotta love a company so bizarre that they spell their name with a lowercase letter first and an uppercase letter half way through. :P (Not to mention they misspelled their company name as "try-Ace" on their first game.)
