So does your tribe have any interesting prototype games that never made it to market? I know Atari has plenty of them... back in the Street Fighter 2 days, Atari had a policy of cancelling any game that couldn't out-muscle SF2, leading them to cancel interesting games like Beat Head (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=B&game_id=7068), Marble Madness 2 (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=M&game_id=8619), Bradley Trainer (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=B&game_id=12915) (A game whose name I share :D ), and approximately a bazillion 2600 games that never made it out the doors.

There was that secret DDR To The Absolute Max We Mean It This Time project for the military, but due to its overwhelming power, a small band of highly-skilled mercenaries snuck into the arctic testing facilities and destroyed it before it could be unleashed on an unsuspecting populace... ;)

Whoops, said too much. Darn it, now I'm going to have the FBI on my doorstep again.

well, capcom was making a SNES game called "Crush Crawfish kicks more ass than you can handle" but apparently, people really couldn't handle it, as most game testers spontaneously combusted from the overwhelming greatness of the game. And that's why it only exists in proto form, deep in the earth's molten core.

mmmyep. LOL

I have an incomplete PC version of Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari that was leaked from one of Technos's former employees.

Yeah, weve got a gaggle of PSOne games that never made it out of the gates for one reason or another. However I think that one of the more interesting ones wasnt made by Sony but they along with EA(who published it) put the Kibosh on it. Thrill Kill. A fighting game that was just too much for its time. With the ability to maim and dismember your opponents, there was just too much violence for its own good. The game lives on in various Beta's that are very freeflowing on the internet and in Wu-Tang ShaoLin Style which used the game engine that was developed for Thrill Kill as its backbone.

There is Crash and the Boy's Ice Challenge, Kunio no Bike Racing: Nekketsu Bari Bari Kouttotai and Nekketsu Yakyuu Kozou for the unreleased techno games that I can remember as of this moment.

According to "The Guide":
Mondu's Fight Palace
Fido Dido
Lobo
It came from the Desert
Time Trax
Water World

It also says Itchy and Scratchy never came out for Genesis, although I swear I saw it long ago for rent.

Also, it has Outback Joey as a prototype, but that was proven false, with the recent eBay finding.

Also, there's no homebrew games for Genesis.

Epyx was supposed to release some of the Starpath games on cartridge for the Colecovision. I think someone actually has a proto for Escape from the Mindmaster. Oh, what I would do to get my hands on that... :devilish:

I'm sure it never made it to a prototype stage but Working Designs had made a lot of progress on the PS2 Goemon game before Sony shot it down for being an inferior 2D game.

There's also rumored to be a prototype Ruby dragon plush but I think it's only heresay. And of course there's the unreleased Alex punching puppet.

We all lament at the fact that Rise of the Robots was not a prototype...

They also supposedly did some work on Cosmic Fantasy 3 before they moved on to the Sega CD. One of the sign posts in Cosmic Fantasy 2 said something like Cosmic Fantasy 3 coming soon.

Microsoft just canned True Live Fantasy, so that's now a prototype gone buh bye.

Thrill Kill could have introduced the world to the greatest grab move ever: The tak- it-from-behind-butt-bang move. And he even kicks you away when he done. Priceless.

My tribe currently hunts the rarest of prototypes..which really isn't a prototype....but it's printed on prototype media...so I guess it counts...

Did I mention I hate basketball. :)

Cartridge wise, not much to be known for the C64; Last Ninja 3 and Turbocharge were already out on tape/disk, and Atarisoft's Crystal Castles made it out on tape 2 years later.

Now in general you mean... this is what THIS site http://cs.c64.org is for :D
