?????

For me, the Nintendo Gamecube was the obvious second choice. The Cube is not well-supported, and lacks in certain areas (DDR/shooters), but let's face it: Nintendo programmers are geniuses when it comes to making or supporting games:

Zelda - Wind Waker
Mario Sunshine
Mario Kart
Fzero
Eternal Darkness - awesome!
Metroid Prime
Pikmin
Super Smash Brothers
Skies of Arcadia

How could I pass up those awesome games???? So, the Cube was the second next-gen console to fill my entertainment center:
(1) PS2
(2) GameCube

I think it'll be the same with the next line of systems. Although I wouldn't mind having an xbox for emulation, and online play along with a couple of titles, so it was a pretty close call for me.

You missed Tales of Symphonia, by far the best game on GC and the very reason I chose GC as my 2nd choice, i even spent the extra $50 and got it region-free from ncsx in case ToS didn't come here.

I agree what ever doesn't come to the xbox/ps2 comes out on the cube. The xbox and Ps2 librarys are just too similar to have both of them.

Eternal Darkness. I played that a while ago. Bought it used for $14.99 at Game Stop. Took it back a few days later.... and finally bought a brand new copy for $4.99 at Kmart today. :P

Gotta love the 'Cube, Eternal Darkness, Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros. Melee... I got my GC before I got another next gen console, my PS2. And I'd say that's an excellent second system. I've probably logged more hours on it than I have on my GC, I got my PS2 in Feb. and I've had my GC since Christmas 2001! (Though, to kind of be fair, I've logged a lot of hours on my PS2 playing PS1 games, and I've had a PS1 since around '97).

I would have to say the 'Cube as well, since it has the least library overlap of any of the consoles out right now. For my first console though, it's definitely an Xbox, for Xbox Live and its' technical prowess (high definition and in-game Dolby Digital). And also, given Sony's track record with cd-drives, ps2 owners are likely to have another ps2 as a second system....to replace the one that's fallen apart on them.

Cube IS going to be my second next gen system, I have a PS2 now, and the GC is just a lot more appealing to me than the XBox. Nintendo always hits my soft spot :D

Tales of Symphonia - I'll buy it next time.
Resident Evil Zero - Bought it, but didn't like it. I really hate solving those stupid puzzles, and far, far worse: ***I didn't think it was scary!***

Eternal Darkness - now THERE'S a scary game. Ditto Clock Tower albeit to a lesser degree. Both use a kind of insanity effect that gradually drives ME insane. I can't sleep at night. LOL

What I REALLY need to get is a Gameboy Player. I have never owned a Gameboy, and I have a LOT of catching up to do!

The Gamecube was my first choice, and the XBOX was a close second. I have a PS2, but I only have four games for it, Jak and Daxter, Jak II, Ratchet and Clank, and Ratchet and Clank II.

Because when I bought it I had a Ps2 and 20+ games :)

As far as next-gen (are they still deserving of that title?) / 128 bit consoles go, I still consider my Sega Dreamcast my primary system. My Xbox takes a backseat to my Dreamcast, as did my Playstation 2. I seldom ever felt the desire to play PS2 games, as a matter of fact.

PS2 after my 'cube. I dont know why, I wish I got XBOX, it was a last minute decision, oh well. Now I have all 3.
