Hey guys I'm wondering if this info is correct a/c power adapters:

1. NES
2. master system
3. genesis 1
4. segaCD (version 1 and 2)
all of these use the same a/c power adapter

genesis 2
genesis 3
32X
all of these use the same a/c power adapter

master system and genesis 1 use the same audio/video connection?
let me know thanks!

Someone in a another thread has just said that genesis controllers work on the master system. Is this true and does it matter if they are 3 or 6 button controllers?

No. NES uses an AC->AC adapter. A Genesis/SMS adapter (MK-1602) may power the NES, but don't use an NES adapter for any of those.

genesis 2
genesis 3
32X
all of these use the same a/c power adapter

The Genesis 3 uses a 300mA supply by default, but the Genesis 2/32X supplies (850mA) will work with all 3. Do not use a bona fide Genesis 3 supply with anything but a Genesis 3.

Yes it's true, and you can use either the 3 or 6 button controller.

B and C on the Genesis/Mega Drive controller is the equivalent of 1 and 2 on the Master System controller. ;)

most mastersystem games will work just fine playing them with a genesis controller, but i do know of one mastersystem game that will not controll right with a genesis controller, alien syndrome.my only mastersystem controller broke, and i was using a genesis controller, all of my mastersystem stuff worked just fine except alien syndrome.you would try to move the guy you were controlling, and he would just move to the right side of the screen.

This adapter works with Super Nintendo, Atari Jaguar, Jaguar CD, Turbografx-16, Sega Genesis Model #1, Nintendo. YES, it has 2 jacks on it, and yes, these systems have all been tested with this AC Adapter.

i don't recommend doing that since its better to use the adapter that came with the console.

Although if you've had no problems i don't see why not but again i don't recommend at all.

Yep, and it kicks so much more ass than the terrible master system controllers.

^ Yup I said it. So much better, then the disc like pad on the SMS contoller I highly recommend it.

Wonder Boy in Monster Land and Bomber Raid won't work with Genesis controllers, either. There may be others.

I, myself, prefer the controller that came with the Genesis 3.

just to clarify:
1. the master system and genesis 1 use the same a/c adapter
2. the genesis/ms a/c adapter will power the nes but the nes adapter will NOT power the genesis/ms
3. the genesis and 32x use the same a/c adapter and that one will also power the genesis 3 but the genesis 3 adapter will NOT power the genesis 2 or 32x
4. the genesis controller will work for the master system YAY!!!

SO I still have this question does the sega cd 2 use the same adapter as the genesis 1 ?????

AND does the genesis 1 and master system use the same audio/video connections ?????

1) I believe the voltages are the same, but I don't currently have an SMS to verify this.

2) No. They are different. Neither will work correctly on the other - in my experience a Genesis power supply hooked to a NES simply gives a buzzing sound, and the NES power supply can (and will) blow out the fuse on sega hardware, SegaCD especially.

3) Yup

4) Yup, as noted before, for most games

and the RF boxes are interchangeable. I don't remember if the SMS has the DIN connector for AV connections however.

Yes the SMS and Gen-1 have the same AV jack.

And the SMS games that don't work with a genesis controller are:
Alien Syndrome
Bomber Raid
Great Volleyball
Montezuma's Revenge
Shang-hai
Where... Carmen San Diego
Wonderboy in Monster Land

Some people say these have problems, some don't:
Penguin Land
Tennis Ace
Pal games from Codemaster

The problem is that the games program pin 7 to switch and this needs to held high on a gen controller.

Only one button will work unless you re-wire the pad.
