View Full Version : Mysteries behind the "TRIBES" CONTEST

After not being able to login for two days and not being able to respond to the outrageous (!!!!) (!!!!) criticism of YOSHIM to one of my posts :), I'm now completely lost, confused, and overwhelmed. I don't even know by WHAT I'm overwhelmed.
I read through the complex TRIBES CONTEST threads, and I feel lost. I feel like in a modern game where one area after another opens and you just don't know where to go.
The rules are complex, kept a secret, I joined the group and have to wait until I'm approved; but I have anyway the wrong avatar and there is probably no chance to compete.
Are the rules to get hidden challenge points based on random principles?
Are the rules to get hidden points based on repeating patterns of desirable and undesirable forum-discussion habits? (posts with quotes in quotes in quotes; direct responses with reasoning; outrageous comments avoiding contents of other posts; anticipating other posts; being funny; ...)
After getting so confused by all this complexity and non-linearity, I had to plug in Ninja Gaiden to enjoy the simplicity of an older game.
That's behind this contest! It's another promotion of the simplicity of older games. A sneaky and cunning strategy like in a political campaign.
I DEMAND challenge points for the longest and most verbose posts! I wrote this post to make my case.

I think if you're getting that frustrated with the whole thing, a break from posting and some console gaming time would be well spent.
The whole idea of the Tribes thing is to post and boast about your true colors -- pick an avatar that represents your favorite developer. From there, just post and have fun!
I'll let you in on a little secret -- I have read how the scoring system works and I still don't understand half of it. Your brain will turn to Tapioca Pudding long before you figure out who's getting points for what. Rather than get frustrated, just jump in and enjoy the madness for a while.

I'm not frustrated at all. I was just teasing, it was irony. ;)

Oh, irony. Same as goldsy and bronzy only made of iron?
Don't worry, I can't understand the Tribes thing either so that's one activity I'll just pass on this time.

Haha no joke!
When you think you've figured out part of it, something blows your theory completely out of the water!
I'm having a blast though!

yea, it sucks when you see a pattern in like 5 straight topics that you look at, but then the next topic you look at completely blows your pattern outta the water
