funny.. I stuck a BBA in my GameCube and was online in under 30 seconds with PSO..

Of course you don't have to go threw M$'s "We must control all connections and charge $50" server just to get to the play servers where you get charged the $10 a month game fee.. etc. etc.

I might get the PS2 online... but when I get a Xbox it will be modded out and more then likely just be used for MAME and a few exclusives.

Maybe if you explain your problem with more detail (and fewer emoticons) someone here can help you.

Ok,it's worth a try.

I am trying to set up my gamer id thing. So I put my name and birth and everything. Then it asks me for my subscription code.So I put it in and push A to enter it.And then it does nothing. It stays at that screen and does crap.

From what I hear from people it should take 3 seconds!I then made sure everything was hooked up right and it was.I tried it four times and the same thing happened everytime.I tried to call Xbox Tech line, but it is always busy!

HELP!

we pay nothing to play games online.....the $50 is all we pay...atleast I haven't had to pay for any other game yet. Also I got my xbox online pretty damn easily, and it rocks....and just so you don't think I'm a Xbox fanboy, I have my PS2 and GC online....Xbox has been sweet so far, though I'd have to say SOCOM on PS2 has been my favorite online experience so far.

Dude, it doesn't cost me one dime to play Madden.. no extra money at all.. no $50 spent anywhere.. It didn't cost me a dime to play UT or UT2k3 online on my PC ever.. not once!

I don't see how or why you are justifying what the X-Box is doing. Your being charged a fee that gives you nothing! NADA! You are giving Microsoft $50.00 a year to do absolutely nothing but route your connection threw there server so it can check to make sure your not on a modded Xbox..

I've really been having a blast with x-box live. My cousins got it and I play with them all the time. Very nice presentation and performance. So anyone want to play?

Why do peaople pay seganet 8.95 a month to play Phantasy Star Online on GC?.....PC gameing sucks , PC's Glitch up and computers vary in performance and access speed...That's why I don't play online games on the PC......now this is why I pay the money....console gaming atleast fixes some of those problems....everyone has the same machine, the consoles are much more stable, and the networks are closed. Why pay developers $9 a month to play one game and $9 buck to play another game.....You do that to pay for servers and updates and a little profit if they get to that.....This is the way the Gamecube and PS2 are going ....for sony and Nintendo this means they don't have to pay for servers, but what it does mean is that the gamer will have to pay for each individual companies servers in the form of that fun little prestated monthly fee... Now sony have suspended billing for the SECA games, but that's only temperary, to try and get the online gamer to buy a PS2, sony will charge a fee sometime.....What microsoft has done has taken the set-up costs for 3rd party developers to put games online out by making one huge network...Now the $50 a year isn't gonna hold, it's an introductery price I know....They can't break even if they get the majority of internet console gamers...what's more realistic is that sometime next year when all the subscriptions run out is that the BIG M will charge 19.95 or so a month to subscribe....Yes, it's an increase, but compared to $9 a month per game, I'd rather pay $20 a month to play all the games I have on one network, and be able to buy new games and not have to send another check to whoever.now yes there will still be updates to deal with, now they could be free, the in house game updates will probably be free, but 3rd parties will probabaly chare $1 or $2 to download updates, which will probably make 3rd parties quite a bit of money on a successful game....This is one of the main reasons that I think a lot of 3rd party developers will go to the xbox to go online...there's less capital needed because they don't have to worry about the servers, and they can make money on updates which probably don't cost them that much to produce.

SO.....if you want to play games online on a console, it's gotta be one of these ways, and in the longrun I see Xbox winning this race with Sony second(because of their following, and they may fall farther behind when they start charging), and I'm betting the gamecube never really gets going online(Phantasy Star is the peak)
