Ok, on another site someone has posted this GB along with a windbreaker and record bag. Any ideas on a value? They said it was from a competition, but didn't say where they are from.

I can see it fine..

But I have no idea where that Gameboy came from. Very cool find IMO.

Nice Gameboy. It looks cool with Wario's head on it. Looks like it dosen't comes with Super Mario Land 3, though... :o

Looks like it's from a Nintendo Power contest or something.

It's wierd how the box is pretty standard except the sticker on it...whicjh is fairly insignificant looking. Call me cynical but I think this is maybe a custom job rather than a limited version (but who knows!) Can't you PM the guy or something and ask him about the competition?

It does kind of look like a custom job. I mean, you could apply that decal to a GB anyday of the week. And the box just has a sticker on it.

He is from Scotland, maybe it was a Euro only contest? I think it's real since there's a wind breaker and bag with the Wario logo.

The round nintendo seal of approval (that is on the Gameboy Box) was only used on early NES carts in the USA. It is still used in Europe and Asia

I'd vote someone's personal custom paint job because the words and button letters (A, B, Select Start) are not labellled on the system. That and I have never seen such an odd sticker shape form Nintendo.. It looks liek they cut off the bottom half of a sticker.

Neat paint job, regardless.

Yes, nothing is labelled so I vote for it being a paint job with a decal. That box looks like the box I have for my GB but without the LIMITED EDITION sticker or whatever on it.

Aye, folks forget how ghetto Nintendo stuff used to be. I'm giving it a chance of being legit - but I wouldn't drop a wad of green on it myself.

I have a black GB like the picture but no Wario Head on it. It also has purple lettering under the screen that says "Nintendo GAME BOYtm" . The more I look at the picture posted, the more I am sure it is not a Limited Edition. I am thinking fake but that is just a hunch.

Definitely looks like a custom job. Sure is cool though. I like the wario decal.

Ok it was me! I forgot all about my search a while ago for any info on it. It has recently been on my mind again. The black game boy in question is genuine as far as I know! I don't know much about it but it was a prize I won on a tv show called Ghost Train in the U.K. It was also supplied with warioland game pencils and pens (now long gone) but the game boy and jacket and bag all still remain in my loft. If anyone knows how I can even find out more about it I would be greatfull!

If you're gonna bring up such an old thread - can you at least re-post the image? I want to see what that gameboy looks like ;)

I can do! I will take some close ups of the game boy as that is the main focus. Should I take photos of any spacific bit of the gameboy ie a serial no if it has one. I will re post here next week!

Nintendo keeps records of all the serial numbers of all their systems, it might be worthwile to call them and ask what they know about the contest. Odds are, the person you get on the phone won't know, but nintendo is usually pretty good at putting you in touch with someone who does.
