Yeah I collect for Gameboy. The cost can be prohibitive because Gameboy games hold their value too much, and I never see them at thrift stores. But I absolutely loved my original Gameboy as a kid so I still love collecting for it. The first thing I did when I got a GBA was go out and find all the GB games I had as a kid.

I don't collect mainly gameboy or anything like that. But I collect RPGs for the system like I do for any other.
Havn't picked up many original Gameboy carts though. Just Tetris and Final Fantasy Adventure. I have mostly GBC and GBA games.
I've had a couple but I don't collect. Most people are not interested in it. I used to have final fantasy adventure and things like that but now alls I have are tetris and pokemon.

I Collect GB and GBA. I live in a small apartment so I collect mostly handheld stuff now. In fact it has been my goal for awhile now to stop collecting everything but handheld. It is very difficult, though. I have no self-control. Nuts.

I started getting games for Gameboy back when the Gameboy Pocket was around. I have a list of games I'd like to collect at some point, but currently I don't.

I have recently started collecting for the GBA and I have also started to pick up some GB and GBC games as well. It's not the greatest collection in the world, 31 games, but it is growing rapidly! I do have virtually every ROM out there though - just to keep my interest and allow me to test games before buying. My main system for collection was the SNES but now the games I want are costing silly money and my girlfriend isn't too impressed! LOL Also the space factor is appealling to me. I can have all the hardware and accessories I want and it's never going to fill a bookcase let alone a whole room!

I collect for game boy but the price of game boy games rarely drops so I usually go for the cheaper famicom or super famicom games. I just bought 2 Downtown Nekketsu games for $30 each on ebay so you can see how they still hold their value.

I buy plenty of Game Boy stuff. I think that it comprises about 17% of my collection at the moment. Aside from color variations, I have 7 different versions of the Game Boy hardware (at least).

A wee bit I do yep.
6 GBA games
10ish or so originals - no boxes.
I collect the Wisdom Tree titles for Gameboy. That's it though.

I collect old GB games but because of my "complete or atleast boxed policy" towards the system, I rarely score. I don't give a rat's ass about GBC or GBA games (yet ;) ).

Eh, not really. As Jibbajaba said, they hold their value too much. I have 30-some GB/GBC carts and around 8 GBA games.

Though I still love my old grey GB (which I won in a contest about ten years ago), and I kept all my old games for it, I haven't started collecting for it yet. As many have already mentioned, the prices for old games are relatively high, but in my experience it's also quite difficult to find them at all. On most fleamarkets I visit there are at least some NES, SNES, 2600 or Videopac (Odyssey 2) carts, but I can't remember the last time I found GB games.
The thing is, it seems like the GB tech scene is well alive and kicking. There are dozens of emulators and maybe even more hardware projects going on right now. I remember an electronics magazine which developed a special cartridge to turn the GB into a high-precision oscilloscope. Now that would be handy 8-)
Anyway, price is one of the reasons few people are collecting GB games. But what about the sheer number of GB games released over the years? I remember seeing weird stuff like personal organizer carts, portable dictionaries or even portable bibles cartridges. Does anyone know how many different carts there are?
(now that I remember, my brother sold his GB and games to our little cousin, but obviously he's grown up and has a GBC and a GBA now.... maybe I should ask if he wants to return the oldies to their old home ;) )

I had about 35 GB games some years ago. Mostly RPGs and a few platformerse and shooters thrown in for good major. I really don't miss them that much. Not to mention I got pretty good money for them when I sold them.

I decided a while back to collect exclusively for portable systems. That hasn't worked out too well, but it is still a concentration of mine. Cost is the primary deterent. I refuse to pay more than $7 for a loose GB cart. I'll go up to $10 for a complete one. There are always exceptions, but the majority of GB games just aren't worth more.
currently I have
41 GB carts
28 GBA carts
8 GBC carts
I really don't ever look at Gameboy Color carts. Maybe one day, but my GB collection will take forever!

It'd be an amazing collection to complete. It might rival the Atari 2600 in difficulty. That being said, if I was a millionaire I would. Too expensive for what it is. Still can't stop me from daydreaming about it though.

I guess I do...found a great Double Dragon (original) cart yesterday @ Goodwill...that's a $8 game right there. Add to that R-Type DX and original (blue permarkered-up) Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge games I bought actually pretty cheaply in a Hawaiian mall and I'm increasing my GB collection by leaps and bounds. Yesterday I lost the rest of my advantage on Golf, Athletic World, SMB/DH, and a Sonic 1 cart (yeah, I needed that last one, and in any case it's nice to have a backup SMB/DH...if I ever play it, that is...here's hoping for a complete Toejam & Earl sometime soon :) Did get a $5 Mac LC+ monitor (no cables, though, and you need a cable for the monitor, my regular Performa monitor seems to mess the picture up...)
