Hello Everyone,
I have a NES that does not seem to work... the screen is just black when the power is turned on. It does not blink so I think the 72 pin connector is ok.
Any ideas on what might be the problem?
Thanks

is the tv on the right channel?
Does the power indicator light turn on?
Is there a loud pop when you turn it on?
A short one time flash?
We need more info.

It is on the right channel...
It is plugged into the TV...
The power light does turn on... (no Flashing)
No Pop or flash...
Just Black...
I just replaced the 72 pin on it because it was flashing before... not it is just black when the power is turned on...
I have replaced the 72 pin many times before and have had no problems... I think something else is wrong besides that...

Have you tried using both the AV cable ports and the RF out?

Chris... Great idea... I did not try the AV cables....
Just tried it out and still get a black screen, but now I do hear the audio pop right when you turn on the NES.

probably a loose connection that needs to be sodered ?
Did you inspect all the connections on the inside ? look for broken connections ?
Thats all I got. :o

check inside the connector if the first and last upper pin aint all the way down (these are power and ground pins needed by the cart to operate) common issue if you have "bad" new connectors or a game that tends to push them up also known as a "nes buster"
the nes aint blinking since the lockout chips is disabled *hint*
if you mean by black the grayish screen the power part works otherwise if you mean black as in pitchblack try replacing the 7805 its located on the front side of the small metallic box where you plug A/V RF and Power.
