Its done. The world is soon to end. If this happens I am shooting myself. Im serious. Good thing is nintendo would be online, but I bet he would try and make the games more mature. :(

I don't get it, is he actively trying to aquire Nintendo, or is he saying he wouldn't turn down the opportunity? The "article" isn't very informative!

He just publicly expressed that he has an interest in buying Nintendo. I doubt as well though that Yamauchi would sell.

(Honestly, I have no opinion on this either way. Just felt like stirring some shit up.)

I'd like to make a public statement.
"It would be really neat to own Nintendo."
Okay, someone write an article.

FRANKFURT (AFX) - Redeye.net founder TheRedEye has expressed his interest in acquiring computer games company Nintendo Co from the Japanese billionaire Hiroshi Yamauchi.
"If Hiroshi Yamauchi phones me up, i will pick up at once," TheRedEye told the Retrogaming Roundtable forums.
TheRedEye added he would immediately make an offer if Yamauchi was willing to sell.

Because every game from Microsofts game studios are mature x_x
I don't know how many fanboys lamented Sammy owning Sega, but it's basically like that, except, Nintendo has money, and has no reason to sell.

We've been here before (in a sence), back in 98' before the xbox, Bill and his ol' boys saw what sony were up too (and makin $$$), so MS wanted in, the first thing they did was call up ninty!.. the deal wasn't really getting anywhere, only a few years later the xbox arrived.. MS did look into buying Ninty!...But the deal never really took off ( keep wishin Bill LOL )
There where a few mentions of this deal in a few UK video game rags!.. I'm sure it got a mention on the TV too!.. I can't really see ninty crossing over to the dark side!.. @_@ It'll Never happen, and thats from a Ninty fanboy ( yes i said it ;) ) LOL
Like a few others have mentioned, Mr. Gates said if he got the phone call, he'd put in an offer!.. thats all that was said.. It's more PR trash
Forget MS and Ninty i'm waiting for bill to call me and i'll make him an offer for MS LOL

If you weren't serious, that'd be pretty hillarious.
In any case, go ahead, I won't miss you. It's still pretty hillarious, actually. People forget that once upon a time there was a gaming scene, and Nintendo had no part in it (once upon a time Apple Computers was big, too). We're up past our waders in the first shallow waves of this tsunami you might call a "sea change" in the industry; it's up to Nintendo to deal with that change. I think they are dealing with it very well and I think nothing at all will come of this.
Why all the "evil M$" talk? Nintendo + Microsoft seems like a good idea to Bill, and if I were he I'd think likewise. This might be the only thing which can keep Nintendo in the home consoles business, unless they have more DS - style inventions in store with their newest console - and I would be very surprised if they didn't. Whether or not the DS and the "GC2" are going to sell doesn't matter really - Nintendo is betting they will and if they fail at the GC2 they will almost certainly still have the DS as salve for their wounded pride (and help shore up their bottom line).
Nintendo has a different corporate culture than Microsoft - where Gates' company seemed to be working almost on autopilot at times, churning out halfhearted experiments like Microsoft Bob, Microsoft would take a similar idea - vector graphics - and added some ancient technology, lots of personality and form in the form of the FX Chip, and the result was Yoshi's Island. Didn't sell as well as DKC, but you can't say that Nintendo has ever been lacking in enthusiasm and polish for their finished products.
Yet while Nintendo has done this year after year, Microsoft has been working on getting disparate elements in the industry to work together. They don't make the games, they make the platform. Looking at "XNA" isn't going to get anybody's heart moving, especially compared with footage of Link smashing through a line of moblins on another screen; but that's not what it's all about. I don't have any reason to believe that Microsoft messed up Bungie's development cycle for Halo, though. Rushed a bit, sure, but you have to remember that was pretty much the only game in town at the time (Brute Force, anybody?) Hopefully this is all just speculation, but if a buyout came to pass, I'd guess it'd be in the form of Microsoft directing Nintendo to create products from a very interested ringside seat, and with only enough shares to constitute majority ownership, not complete control.
Bottom line, though, is that Nintendo - and maybe even Sony - seems to struggle putting together good hardware and support developers working on it, and with XNA looking to cut costs (if all goes well) for devs, folks are going to look at Microsoft as a shining example of what to do. What does Nintendo have? Money, and a lot of good fuzzy feeling (remarkably!) from gamers. What does Microsoft have? Connections with everybody who ever was in the software business, roughly. It won't happen overnight, but the XNA model is going to win, eventually.
Hmm. Said too much already.

I have to agree with you! LOL LOL LOL
You know on one hand though if the two companies were merged properly we would finally see some real competition against SONY.

I rather see Sony & Nintendo join forces before Microsoft & Nintendo. Metal Slug or Not. But I hope none of the stuff ever happens. Except for Metal Slug on the Gamecube! :D

There's been rumors and speculation that Nintendo and Microsoft are starting to become more friendly, partly due to their number one foe being Sony. Nothing as radical as a buyout, but a partnership in the near future seems possible.

I can see it happening, until Microsoft steals Nintendo's innovative Mario-indows operating systems and goes it alone. Nintendo's market share dwindles, despite being the primary innovaters (having released their Luisa console years back), and once again Microsoft owns the competition without really buying them.

Without a hairy debate, I have to confess that it is feasabe of Bill to buy Nintendo in the future......espically if a bloodbath happens with game sales in the futrue. Micorsoft with all of its Halo glory..........sucks at making first party games. The Xbox is almost three years old and the "must have innovative games" for most gamers can be found on one hand. Its clearly evident that while being the third console on the totem pole, Nintendo is truly the company standing out making A+ titles for itself...........it is just too bad that they can't own more of the market. The bottom line is that if Microsoft has an unlimited bank account and that they WILL do anything to help their share in the gaming console business succeed. So far, they have just lost a ton of money on the Xbox............pennies to them :D. Microsoft is in it for the long haul, it would be wise for them to acquire it. Hell, they are both stationed in Washington!(Nintendo's US Branch) It is true that Nintendo is solid as we speak, but IF there ever is a turn for the worse(which eventually will happen if game sales decline) We could see this in the future. I have mixed feeling on the merger, but I would rather see Microsoft buy Nintendo then to see it just go away completely.
