OK, I'm starting to get pretty pissed off here. I'm not sure why, but some of the "best" games to come out recently have been destroyed due to really bad camera angles. *I* Won't be buying any more games that I hear suffer from bad camera's, so lets get them out in the open.
What games have been wrecked or at least greatly worsened due to their camera angles?
To start the list for me:
Super Mario Sunshine - I sold this game and will never play it again JUST BECAUSE of the camera angles. To me, this game was unplayable and shouldn't have gone past beta testing like this.
Kingdom Hearts - Not quite as bad, still playable, but DEFINITELY should have been fixed before being released. What were they thinking?

Reason is, I think people have been willing to accept lousy cameras in 3d games. Everyone complains about it, but they keep on buying. As long as there's plenty of pretty window dressing or a popular franchise attached, people will ignore a lot.
Having worked a little in 3d, I can sympathize with how difficult cameras are to get right. But these people are professionals who have been doing this since it started. They should be better at it by now.

Well, my biggest problem is, I've never HAD a problem with cameras before. Usually, bad camera angles went along with bad games, but now that unbelievably GREAT games are getting the bad camera treatment, I'm really pissed.
I never had a problem with ANY of the spyro games, or zelda OOT (Even though I hated the N64 zelda games, I had no problem with their cameras), GTA3's camera's weren't perfect, bvut they didn't hinder gameplay, MGS2 had great cameras. I could go on and on listing 3D games with good, acceptable, or GREAT camera's, but only a handful of games with bad ones (so far)

Nintendo's excuse for the angles in SMS was that they wanted Mario and his world to be fully controllable, and not be restricted by the camera. It didn't really work, but once you get used to it its a very good game.

Every game HAS to have a Zoom Out (like Mario64). In my opinion, that's the biggest flaw with Kingdom Hearts: I can't see what's going on! NUTS. It should be up to the *player* whether he wants to be in the action or view it from a wide-angle view.

I agree with you on the zoom out, even if you could have zoomed in and out kingdom hearts would have been better.
I won't go into SMS again, but there is no "getting used to it" for me, and even if I could have, I shouldn't have HAD to get used to it. This is like listening to the best rock of the past 30 years, and then someone saying "Just listen to rap for awhile, you just have to get used to it"
Yes, I probly would like rap if I was subjected to it all day every day for the next 5 years, but that doesn't mean I WANT to.
