I've never seen what this game box looks like before but I found a copy of madden 93 boxed in a small game store today and on the bottom left part it says "Limited Edition" with an EASN logo. Is this the rarer edition of the game? A friend of mine said the box has a gold border around it instead of blue but I've never seen that emblem on another game and it is a rental copy. They gave me damn joe montanna football so I have to go back tomorrow and get the right game, lol. Thanks for any help!

that's the case for Championship edition alright. If they don't have the right one (It says "JMF Championship Edition" on the top of the cart) then I should very much like to obtain that box. My copy is loose.

EA games from around that time period may have a "first run" logo on them. Apparently the first few thousand copies will have that logo. I've seen so many games like this that I'm pretty sure they aren't going to be worth that much. John Madden Championship Edition does have a gold bordered box. From what you've described, you just have a "first run" copy.

I see, so it's basically just the regular old madden more or less with that weird emblem....does anyone have a picture of the gold bordered box? I would like to see how different they look.

As far as i know only the '94 series (first with white boxes) got the first round sticker, but i dont know when championship edition 93 was released, so its possible it does have the LE sticked (but im doubtfull).

Honestly I never paid attention to anything with these Sports games since I see so many at the Flea markets..(Tons)
I might even have the gold bordered version in my buried games.. :?
I'm not sure but I usually get one or two sports titles when I buy boxes of games then just put away all the sports titles.

Yeah, that's the one I have. I don't think it is the championship edition. I figure it would be very noticeable if I ever saw it in the wild.

I suspect that only the very FIRST Madden game -- John Madden Football for the PC in 1989 -- might go for money. The early (1990-1992) ones may be uncommon. Anything else, forget it.

More than just the '94 series has those stickers. I've got a Bulls vs. Blazers and NHLPA '93 with it, and I'm sure I've seen more than that too. This has been mentioned in a couple posts, but nobody ever looked into it in depth really.

The Championship Edition that has the gold border is quite rare, it was a rental store exclusive, and instead of the regular teams and 8 great past teams, it has 38 of the all-time best teams. So it is a different cartridge. The blue version show above is the regular one, and the gold stickers were on the first so many thousand. The championship version doesn't even have a sticker, just a "rental exclusive" logo printed on the cover.

Sorry for diggin up the OLD OLD thread, but I have searched and searched for info on the LE first run edition EA sports games, this thread is the only thing of promise I've found.
Does anyone know anymore about the limited edition first run copies?
The box has an extra sticker on the bottom left. But are there any differences with the cart?
Also, what about gameplay?
I am looking to pick up a copy of this. I have the Madden 93 Champ version. not talking about that version. I also have the normal Madden version in 93.
It seems the LE to standard ratio is around 1 to 3, but that's just a guess.
Problem is at most used game stores, the carts get mixed up, so getting the real one seems hard without any clues on the cart.
If all they did was add a sticker, then what is the point? That just seems a retarded way to get people to buy it.
I do have an NHLPA 93 but again, I have no clue whether or not the cart is the original. I have noticed the cart that came with the NHLPA had screws and I have another copy that doesn't. Can anyone else verify this. I got the game at a used game store, so again, not sure whether its the correct cart, could just be a coincidence.
Sorry for the LONG post, to this long dead thread.
Please help, your my only hope, no one else seems to have a clue on the Madden forums LOL. :band:

Man...you casted some wicked necromancy of my old ass thread. I don't even remember this. I believe my copy is one of the LE ones and it seemed like the exact same cart. I do think it had a shitload of cards with different plays & formations. For all I know though, the regular version also included that.

Essentially, the extra championship teams and play cards you speak of, were part of Madden '94.

I thought we were talking about 93 or was that a typo? I thought the Champ teams were only in the 93 Champ Edition, and not the standard or LE, can anyone verify this?
