So when does this generally start to kick in? I'm thinking of unloading most of my TG16 gear, and figure I may as well wait and maximize my return. I'm think it usually starts getting ridiculous in October, but I don't pay that close of attention to it.

Well, after the insanely high (IMO) price my Shining Force II loose went for, I think it's near. My boxes didn't really go for much. Meh, who knows.

I've had good luck selling stuff with high buy-it-now prices in early December.

I always have heard of the high prices at Christmast time, but I didn't find that to be the case when I sold stuff last year. I had better luck selling in September, October, January, and February than I did in November and December. I would just watch the TurboGrafx auctions and when the prices are high I would sell.

I found prices on my used PS1/2 games were high in November/December, and absolutely sucked in January/February.
Just think of the typical shopping times. When do most people run to the store, and buy presents? Right after Thanksgiving aka Black Friday. Same applies to the ebay.

After thanksgiving day, and before new year is the best time to sell stuff

Lots of supply comes in in Nov and Dec which causes many things to be overlooked. After christmas more people are buying and becoming collectors while the supply dries up which seems to lead to the highest prices of the season (Feb - Apr), may have something to do with tax returns. Many new collectors start during the christmas and keep going for several months. I'm currently listing stuff with fairly high normal side BINs but I am listing it in an Ebay store without item expiration and running a few high profile auctions every week or so.
