I was poking around a pawn shop this morning and came across a few Tengen NES games.

One was Pac-Mania, and the other was called Rolling Thunder. I'm not a big NES collector, so what's the price look like on these games? I know Tengen games (Tengen tetris in particular) are fairly rare, but exactly how rare is the question?

ALSO

I saw a Genesis at Goodwill today for $10 with two non-rare games, assuming the Genesis works, is it worth it to buy?

Thanks.

If you don't already have a Genesis, $10 for one with 2 games is pretty good. and I'm pretty sure Rolling Thunder is a common while Pac-mania is pretty uncommon.

Pac-Mania is probably the 2nd or 3rd rarest Tengen game, I'd recomment picking it up if it's reasonably priced (5.00-8.00). It's also a fun game!

Rolling Thunder is common as dirt! I come across it all the time, easiest Tengen game to find IMO. Buy it if it's a buck.

Genesis for 10.00? If you REALLY want one, then get it, if not...you can find one cheaper. Extremely common and usually fetch next to nothing anywhere you go. Now, if it's boxed, buy it right away. Any systems boxed are worth 10.00!

Rolling Thunder isn't rare or valuable. I'd say its only worth a couple of bucks if that. Pacmania on the other hand is a little harder to find and may be worth about $10-$15 if you find someone who wants it.

Genesis systems seem to be pretty easy to find and really aren't worth that much. When you ask if its worth buying are you asking in term of fun for a gamer or are you asking in terms of resale value? If you're looking to resell it I'd say don't bother. If you're asking as a gamer I'd say sure since $10 isnt all that much to spend to play some great games.

Totally grab pacmania if it's priced right. Skip out on rolling thunder. The genesis kicks ass and 10 bucks ain't bad at all if you're looking to add it to your collection.

Rolling Thunder is a platform shooter while Pac-Mania is one the rares tof the Tengen titles (Tetris taking that lovely title, puts a twist on Pac-Man in 3D settings and adds an innovate jump feature.

That seems a little funky considering that all but one shipment of Tengen Tetrises were destroyed and buried underneath Atari's warehouse or something. If you read "the Ultimate Guide to Video Games" they seem to make it clear you won't find that sonofabitch anywhere. Pac-mania, on the other hand, I have seen around. Odd...

Oh, and Rolling Thunder is a wonderful, influential game. Even the NES version translates pretty well from the arcade. If you've never played that game, I strongly urge you to give it a shot. It's one of my favorites.

Tengen Tetris is sub-$30ish/cartridge; more if it's in the box of course. Pretty popular and rare and the subject of one of the most infamous gaming lawsuits around (really the mother of all lawsuits game related), so it holds its value pretty well :P

Wow, crazy. I remember when I was kid, I'd look at those mail-order ads in the back of VG&CE, and people were offering $300 for a Tengen Tetris cartridge. Now they're down to $30. That's funny.
