Recently i ran across info on a "coleco perma power pack". costly, the units are, if you can find them. Got me thinking. What's the feasibility of a homejob on this? Would it be feasible to simply bridge a pair of the battery terminals, strip the wires off of an ac adapter(need to know the amps on this unit) and go at that? Or, how would i do it? Batteries really, really piss me off. Thanks everyone.

I wanted to do something like that myself...

I was going to do the ...bridge a pair of the battery terminals, strip the wires off of an ac adapter

But I also ...need to know the amps on this unit)

If the cost/hassle of replacing batteries bothers you, maybe you should get rechargeable NiMHs?

I'm happy with the perma power setup. They're realtively easy to come by.

Can't think of any online sources off hand. I found one set locally at a Flea Market bundled inside a Galaxian tabletop game and bought both a used and new one off Ebay. Ironically, I paid more for the the loose used on Ebay than I did on the new one.

Naaa,it's just a project for me...It would be cool to set this up with a AC plug.

That's weird. I've never, ever had a rechargeable leak. Alkaline yes, but never NiCad or NiMH.

ummm....no. I had the kind of charger that automatically stops when they're charged.

You could tap out 5v and ground from the colecovision itself by soldering up an rca jack or something. The roller controller grabs them because it has a plug that fits between the console and the power supply connector.
I built a genesis controller adapter into my CV and used that jack to grab gnd and 5v for a jaguar controller, it's all good.
