Alright, here's the deal. I tried to mod a Saturn a while back. Actually, it was well over a year ago, but I'm just now finding it and remembering what happened again. Anyway after chipping it, I can't read ANY discs. I had a spare with a bad power supply, so I tried the CD mechanism from it just in case, and the same thing happened. So here's my offer/request. I'd like to send this to someone who knows what they're doing. If you're able to get it working I'll send PayPal you for return shipping and whatever we agree upon for the repairs. If not, I'll send you a few bucks for trying, and you can keep everything for parts. Anyone interested in helping me out?

While we're on it, anyone know why my saturn isn't liking NiGHTS and the Segata game, yet plays others...NiGHTS is a legal copt and I tried Segata at a few different burn speeds. Two other games I've recently burned are working fine. I thought it may have been movies that was making it hang up but the Necronomicon pinball game has movies and those play.

I've tried playing with the laser intensity and cleaning it with some lens cleaner and a qtip...anything else I can try? Maybe is there a test for a bad motor or such?

Generally playing with laser intensity is never a good idea.

With a meter it's doable, especially when a unit is already blind. Once blind, what is left to lose, right?

that said, when it's just one game or two, I'd verify it wasn't the discs first, before tweaking any pots.

There's an orange screw in the back of the unit, it's common "my saturn's not reading discs" advice to try adjusting it a little. Obviously going too far with it can cause problems but it's not like i cranked it and left it running for 7 hours.
