Ok, boys and girls. I know you've been looking for a 6 slot Genesis DS-16 demo system, so here's your chance. This unit was used to demo the Genesis with six different games at once. Totally awesome. It requires no special hookups to use, only a working Genesis console. It connects through the CD expansion slot on the side of your Gen 1 or 2, then through the cartridge slot. It receives power from the Genesis, requiring no additional AC adapters, plugs, or mess otherwise. Sweet. Let's have a look at some pictures...

There's the DS-16 in all of her beauty (Genesis console not included).

And there's the unit loaded up with games (games not included). You can see the power light on and selecting the 2nd game (Sonic the Hedgehog) - there are six LEDs, one to indicate each game. Now, you may be wondering what that green wire thing is. Well, it's a green wire (not included). Basically, these units were plugged into a button that was used to switch games. The button was mounted on the display, detached from the DS-16 itself, which means the poor buttons generally got tossed out. A simple wire or paperclip can be used to trigger the switch by simply touching it to both metal ends inside the white plug. Don't worry, this won't shock you. If you'd really like, I can include the magic green wire, just ask. You can also locate a button to fit the plug if you're really crafty. The only other concern you should be aware of is that the unit likes to be propped-up a bit to make the best connection with the Genesis expansion. In the second picture, you'll see that I'm using some strange book to lift the far edge just slightly. This technique provides optimal performance. You can use whatever you want that's about a centimeter thick, give or take a little. Madden cartridges work more than well.

So ok, that's the deal with the DS-16. It works completely - all six slots. I've cycled through and played on all of them using two different models of Genny. If you have any questions, then go right ahead and ask them.

Now then, what do I want for this sucker? Well, obviously, I'm open to cash offers. Go ahead, make them. I may post an "asking" price later on, but for now, go with your best offer. I'd also love to trade the thing. I'm looking to get something that's of relative equal niftiness, though I'm very flexible. Ideas: Sega Master System multicart demo system (that would be the ultimate desire here), unique Sega hardware (such as demo units, Japanese Special Editions for the Dreamcast, Saturn, etc), other weird or exciting Sega-related hardware, tough to find Genesis games and other stuff (Outback Joey cart, Game Factory carts, Blockbuster - ha, Miracle Piano, etc), Neo Geo MVS games, or anything else remotely unique and interesting. Let me know what you have - let's both end up with something spiffy.

PM me with questions, offers, or lists of awesome trade stuff. Take this one home. Today. Or tomorrow.

Dude, you are EVIL for selling this so close to CGE. Just. Evil.

But if it's still for sale on August 30th (not bloody likely), I'll take it for a good price.

Just wondering if the Magic Green wire was available by itself. I have been looking for one of those for the longest time. Let me know what you would take for it.

Seriously though, after looking at that, it makes me wonder how I get along without one.

What the hell are these magic wires? :?

They're literally just little wires that I use to trigger the switch. Nothing special at all.

I'll hold off until luck strikes me and I dug up the 15(I think) cart display unit for for the NES. Now that I think about it....it may be a 12 cart unit too...can't remember.

Heck of a nice unit though, I'm sure it will fetch good $$.

Put it in the CGE auction, I'd be in that for sure. :) If it is still available after CGE, I'm interested as well.
