Well, if you lack room, I suggest you don't go hunting for boxed games.
I suggest just covering the bases first-get the good games, get the games you want, and get rare games if you find them for the right price. That way you won't waste space with crap like Color a Dinosaur or Circus Caper. There's a list of good games on this forum here, under the classic discussions.
Get the basic controllers-pad, advantage, multitaps, zapper-and that should cover most of your needs on that front. The floormat controller isn't much of an option if you're aching for space, same with the keyboard controller.

For one thing, I'd recommend some of thoes plastic stacking bin things from Wal-Mart or Target that have pull-out shelves to help keep some of that stuff under control. Also, if you're aching for space, I'd say focus on games first, and only buy accessories if you come across one you think you may never see again.

I have to say thhat I have two plastic drawers filled with NES carts, and I am very dissapointed with them. The weight of the carts is causing the drawers to catch when I try to open them. Then, the drawers are too light and can not support a drawer full of carts when open. So, I have a ton of stuff stacked on top to keep them from tipping over. The weight of that stuff causes the top of the drawer to sag, which makes the drawer even harder to open.
The moral is to make sure that the storage unit you choose is up to the task. Carts are heavy. Make plans for them.

I would think out storage first, or you'll end up like me, with games sitting all over the floor. The huge ass wooden storage unit I bought helped...can't imagine what it would be like without it.

Consder raising your bed. You'll get more storage space that way. I took 4 eighteen-inch 4X4s and drilled a 2" wide hole 6 inches deep in one end of each of them. Then, the feet of my bed went right down in the holes. Basically, I raised my bed a foot.
Oh, if you can, keep your clothes out of the closet and bureau....put them in that closet in the house no one uses (save one bureau drawer for sock s an d underwear and stuff.
