Please give me your opinions on this. Which would you recommend, a Sega CD or a TruboDuo? What are the best titles on each? Thanks!

Easy

The best games on the Duo are better than the best games on Sega CD

but.......the sega CD games are much easier to find therefore cheaper

Let your wallet do your thinking for you :)

I'd go Duo any day of the week.

I'd go Duo as well, but the whole money issue mentioned above is true. I may be able to help and hook you up with someone who has a massive collection of Duo stuff....and well, you get the point. I can't say anymore. ;) Of course, you need to consider all the Hu-cards as well....

The Sega CD has some superb stuff though including the best port of Final Fight, Lunar, and some great shooters (so does the Duo of course).

You'll likely be happy either way.

Couldn't have said it better. The good games are a lot easier to find for the duo...more expensive tho.

Get both. If youre going to spend some heavy cash on the Duo, spend 20 US more and get a Sega cd ... x_x

If you have money to burn, buy a DUO.

I'd go with the Duo.

Sega CD doens't have a lot of really good titles. Too many FMV for my tastes. As for good Sega CD games.

Lunar 1, 2
Popful Mail
Final Fight
Shining Force CD
Robo Aleste
Dark Wizard
Lords of Thunder(Duo version is better)

As for the Duo it has a library of about 600 titles or so including CDs and hucards.

good CD games
3 in1 with Gates of Thunder
Lords of Thunder
Ys 1 and 2, 3, 4
Dragon Slayer Legend of Heroes
Exile 1, 2
Spriggan
gain Ground
Hellfire S

I'd start with the Sega CD. Start witht he cheaper system, so by the time you finish all the good games you'll have plenty of money saved for a duo.

for turbo cd games I'll throw in a few more games:

Might & Magic III: Isles Of Terra (one of my favorite pc rpgs)
Monster's Lair (Very fun wonderboy series arcade shooter)
Loom (Incredible Lucasarts Adventure Game)
Super Air Zonk (Looney and ass kicking shooter)

As for the Duo it has a library...

Ys 4

That's Japanese only.

Duo schmuo. The Sega CD has:

- Full motion video (ooooh, aaaah)
- Better technology
- A larger US library
- A much, much cheaper US library (maybe 3 games are expensive)
- A very large footprint (looks imposing on your shelf)
- And so on...

If you want a complete collection for a moderately successful console but you don't want to devote much time/money to it, then the Sega CD is totally where it's at.

SegaCD IS cheaper and easier to find games for but....Duo has a much bigger selection and much better games. As much as I enjoy my segaCD the duo is much more worth your time and money. I collect SegaCD on the side, like if I find a game for 2 or 3 bucks at a flea I will yoink it, but I don't go out of my way to find games.

Duo is great, but where are these 600 games????? Unless you are counting imports, it's under 250 IIRC...and only 50 of them are CD....
Sega cd is good for a few games. Silpheed, Brutal, Chuck rock 1 and 2. But i can take a shit between levels of final fight CD and still have time to grab some chips before the next level loads...

Hmm, one omission from this list man. You gotta put Sonic CD in there, otherwise, you're pretty much committing a sin against the world.

The point being? The original poster said nothing about not listing import games. It's better than 95% of all action/RPGs even if you can't understand it. Plus people are working on doing a transaltion patch so maybe it will be done in a year or 2 and you can play it on a emulator or a real system. It's one of few import RPGs I would encourange anyone to import even if they can't understand it.

Krazy_kamino
Yes the PC Engine has about 600 games or so and that does include imports. I owned about 500 titles for it at one time. I don't know where your getting 250 from. I'm assuming your talking about US games? There were like 40 US titles and maybe 150 US hucards. I could be off on the US hucards as I never collected or played very many of them.

It's also worth noting that some of the PC Engine CD games loading times are kind of long, although it's not much worse than some Sega Cd games.

GrayFox
Not a Sonic fan which is why I didn't throw it on there. Popful Mail was the only kind of platformer I liked for the system. The whole time travel thing didn't work too well and the other 2D Sonic games were all better. Well other than maybe 3D Blast.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Snatcher?????

The Sega CD has the only English-translated version ever made. Awesome game, one of the best I've ever played.
