So what would be a great compilation or update to a game you would love to see and would actually buy?
Two come to mind for me:
1) A Mr. DO compilation of all 4 arcade games (preferably for GBA!)
2) A release of the Original Legend of Zelda with SNES graphics (again GBA)
A Rabbit can dream can't he?
What say you?
Ben!

I would so buy that. Of course, I'd prefer it to be for a console so my hands don't cramp while I play it. (Note to Nintendo: adults buy GBA too.)

Nintendo might not know adults play GBA or really care for that matter.

How bout collections from Treasure? I would love to see all of their Genesis/Megadrive titles on one disc. Same goes for their Saturn titles. I have pretty much all of the Treasure titles so I don't really care that much, but it still would be cool! ALso, how bout a Model 2 collection from Sega? I bought all the Saturn ports, now give me the real deal Sega! I want more then just VF2! Although that is a start!

I think all Saturn Treasure games would be kind of hard to do on the GBA without cutting a few things here and there. Plus there alread doing Guardain Heroes Advance.

Ya just gotta look in the right country. ;)
I think Sega needs to go further back in its back catalog for a compilation: give us Zaxxon, Pengo, Eliminator, and so on.
Whoever owns the rights to Exidy's stuff, if indeed anyone does, is missing a goldmine. Venture, Targ, Spectar, Mouse Trap, Crossbow, and it goes on from there.
And there's lots more Namco museum to be had - Warp Warp, Galaga '88, many others.

At least Sega did Pengo on the saturn. Of course it's an import only. :o

Sega: No Duh.
Exidy: Great Idea
Stern: Might but not likely
Cinamatronics: same as Stern
My idea for a console complation pack is use a game disk with a comercal emulator with a bunch of legal roms for it ( Raster, Vector, logicboard and Lazer games) most likey for the X-Box then use X-Box live to download other roms for you to download for a price.

An Imagic Comp would be great! I know that Activision Anthology had one or two, but Dragonfire, Demon Attack for the 2600, not to mention White Water, Fathom for the INTV! You cant forget Microsurgon!....Oh yeah how about Wing War and Nova Blast for the Colecovision?

Konami: Make us a castlevania compilation. NOW. With rondo of blood.
Sega: Give us a sonic compilation with sonic CD, chaotix, and the sonic arcade games.
I'd also love to see sequels and remakes of Monster Party, Spanky's Quest, and Smart Ball.

I've been demanding a "Splatterhouses" compilation for years now (with Splatterhouse AC, SH2, SH3 and Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti), but Namco, to date, has refused to listen to me.
Then again, there was that mysterious entry on Amazon UK a while back...
For that matter, a Gradius Ultra Pack would sit very well with me. This would be jam packed with every version of Gradius you can think of (arcade 1,2,3 & 4, Gradius Gaiden, Gradius II Fami, Gradius III SF, all the MSX games, the GB & GBA games, all the Salamander and Life Force games [including the Fami and MSX Salamanders] - plus all sorts of bonuses, like the opening cinemas to Gradius II PCE & all the deluxe packs & GG, and the bonus levels from the PCE Gradius and Gradius II), and it would be packed in as the second and third discs with Gradius V. :D Hell, even throw in Axelay and all of the Parodius games on disc 4.
I can dream, can't I?!

An Infocom remake pack with 24 bit hi res text and 5.1 surround silence :D
Seriously though, I would dearly love a collection of the Alien Breed games. A GBA version consisting of AB 1, 2 and Tower Assault - pixel perfect Amiga ports. Also a 'Cube version with enhanced gfx and surround sound on the above games plus full remakes of AB3D and AB3D 2. That would be absolutley a dream come true for me. When I first played AB3D I couldn't believe how cool that game was, it's way more atmospheric than DooM as much as I love that game too!

Yes that was what I was kind of getting at. Oh yea they could do it on PS2 and not only have bad loading times but also have it done badly in 3D.

(scratching head) I must be playing different games than you guys. My version of Final Fantasy 10-2 had no loading times. If Square can create FF10-2 with no visible loading, and Nintendo can do the same with Metroid Prime, the programmers can do the same for a FF6 or FF7 Remake on the PS2.
I think these games would look sweet in full-scale 3D, plus they'd reach a whole new audience.
(BTW, I don't consider the FF6 on FF Anthology to be a remake. It's just a simple port from SNES to PS1.)

Why would you want this game remade? I think a Port would be wonderful (which wouldn't need load times) . A few 2d games should get face lifts though. Like Super Mario Bros. I would love to see that game made to look like the Adventure mode in SSBM. A 3d Fireball and 3d Fireplant would really make me happy. Maybe SMB3, with the Tanooki and Frog Suits......Oh yeah!
musical
08-14-2004, 07:49 AM
Why would you want [FF6 or FF7] remade?
Because it's easier to identify with and connect to characters that have full-sized bodies & facial expressions (like FF10 or Grandia 2 or Skies of Arcadia), than with little itty-bitty sprites that look like dwarfs. It would improve the expereince.

My idea is that of a Turrican collection: The Amiga versions of Turricans 1, 2, and 3, both Super Turricans, (the NES one and the SNES one, both completely different games) and Super Turrican 2. Maybe they could throw in some history, mentioning the different ports of the games and how Turrican 2's format was bastardized to suit the film Universal Soldier. Perhaps interviews with certain members of the team like Holger Schmidt, Andreas Escher, Chris Huelsbeck, and Manfred Trenz himself? They could also have a translated version of this one interview I saw talking about the scrapped Turrican 3D project! This would be awesome, and since Factor 5 is still around and prospering greatly, why shouldn't they get back to their roots and reprise the game which made them famous? :D

Crap, I forgot to give Chris Huelsbeck's masterworks a nod! I like the soundtrack idea, I do, and the C64 idea is good as well. Nice thinking, Pedro. :)
I just had another idea: A Cave collection? Donpachi, Dodonpachi, ESP Ra. De., Guwange, Dangun Feveron, and Progear? I'd especially like to see that last one, seeing as MAME can't emulate it yet. Maybe the company hasn't been around long enough to warrant a compilation, but as long as I see one in the next fifty years, I'm happy.

I don't understand your viewpoint. Suppose that Square released FF6-Remake on a PS2 with FF12-quality 3D graphics. Would this event prevent you from playing the oiriginal? No. So why would it matter that the remake exists?
IMHO the existence of a FF6 Remake is like the existence of the Psycho Remake. I can choose to ignore it, and stick to the original.

Hmm, that'd be an interesting concept. I'd actually love to see how that would pan out, and if Square ever released it, if they included the orginial version with it, that'd be even better.
