Okay, I've always wanted to see this, so here's a small contest for you:

Your goal is to post a picture of the tallest stack of sega genesis/md hardware, all connected, that will still boot a cartridge game. This covers obvious components, like segaCD & 32x, through the obscure, like x-band modems. Anything that sits in the cartridge slot and has a pass-through connector is fair game. Once you've stacked as high as you can, take a picture of your stack & the game's title screen as run through your stack o' hardware, and either post them in this thread or mail 'em to me.

Note: To win, you must have a cartridge boot, not a CD. The one exception to this rule (and I doubt anyone will take advantage of it) is if you somehow boot a CD with all that hardware in the cart slot, and take a picture of the extra save memory cart being accessed.

The first person to post the tallest functional stack will get a game of their choice from a short list of mostly common segaCD / genesis titles, a Kemco/Seika NES poster & registration card, and the notoriety of being someone with this much free time. Contest will run until next Friday.

Can't find it in a Search of the site, but this was discussed/done a few years back. Let's see if I remember: Starting from the bottom...

Sega CD unit >Sega Genesis > Sega 32X > Some Gameshark-like device (can't remember) > Sonic and Knuckles > Sonic the Hedgehog

This was discussed at the same time someone took an Atari 2600, plugged in a Xonoix double-ender, then stuck ANOTHER 2600 on the top/exposed game and effectively had both ends of a Xonox cart being played at the same time.

Damn, I feel like Butters finding out all his evil plots were already done byThe Simpsons.

Anyway, the challenge still stands. If someone resurrects the old thread, and can beat it, you still get what meager prize I can offer.

Here's the original thread. Went on for quite a while, and encompassed systems other than the Genny, it seems. (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30457)

I'm gonna throw on a Redundancy LOCK on this thread and point you - and other folks - to the other thread in progress.
