I find the Genesis more fun to collect for because the really good Genesis games can be bought complete for a much cheaper price. As far as which system has more good games, that answer will vary according to who you ask. Ultimately, both systems have a shitload of really good games and I collect for both.

there is no easy answer....it is all up to personal preference.....some people may love one system while others will hate it...its just what YOU like and what YOU think YOU would want to collect

Other than RPGs the Genesis has a better selection of games for all genres.

i'm guessing from "mega drive" you're not in the US so your collecting prespective may differ. for my money the SNES is a lot more fun to collect for the nintendo legacy factor, the big N has been very good to its long time fans by keeping series evolving across platforms. sometimes its fun to fire up an SNES game with a modern counterpart just to see where the series "has been" over time. i will give the genny props for being more fun in the hardware/expansion dept, with the sega CD, 32x, powerbase, nomad, CDX etc you've got a lot of great gear to track down.

your question is too general to be answered

The Genesis/MD...it has tons of great games that aren't well recognized.

As much as I love the Genesis, I prefer the SNES. Part of that is obviously because I'm an RPG fan, but I also love many other genres on SNES. If we were talking purely US releases, it would be a tougher decision for me, but with the added strength of the Super Famicom library, it beats the Genesis/Mega Drive. Plus I just love Super Famicom packaging, while Genesis/Mega Drive packaging doesn't excite me as much. Also, SNES games seem to be A LOT easier for me to find than Genesis titles. The only downside is that if I find a Genesis game I'm much more likely to find it in its case (if not complete) than a SNES game with its box and/or manual.

I think the opposite in that Genesis games are much easier to find than Snes. Plus someone has already kind of touched on that getting Genesis games boxed is much more common than Snes.

SFC games are the sort you can play longer, and there's still some truly unappreciated RPG classics in the SFC library...but as I don't yet read Japanese (and can't forsee myself setting aside time to learn for the forseeable future) and don't have really that much time, I tend to like the action games. Mega Drive all the way...the Genesis/MD versions of Ghouls 'n Ghosts or Strider don't really tickle my fancy that much, and the same goes for a lot of the system's other translations (Final Zone Axis, Dynamite Duke), but I'm there for the original stuff.
