Just got a top loader.

Been playing it for about a week now, no problem at all. Everything works great till today. I turn the system on and all I get is a blue screen. Does anyone have any instructions on how to take the top loader apart and clean the pins or repair them or anything? I cant seem to find tips on how to fix a top loader anywhere. I think the pins are probably just a bit dusty inside the system and could use a good cleaning but I dont know........

I sell the bits needed to take it apart, but as for actual repair other than cleaning, no idea.

I thought I remembered a thread someone posted a while ago about someone frying a toploader.......so I guess some of these systems aren't as bulletproof as everyone thinks.

I hope this never happens to mine.,

Frankly, my toploader has never worked as good as a repaired front loader. I think someone spilled root beer in it when I was a teenager (oops)

Get the NES Eliminator cleaning kit. It's pink-colored and they are on ebay every once in awhile or I have a brand new one unopened that I can trade/sell.

They look very similar except that the Eliminator cleans with a plastic coated insertion and comes with a fluid. I've used one before and it cleans top loaders up with no problems.

I have a truly fried top loader too if someone knows anything about them. It boots up and the game plays for about 1 second then the screen goes green. It stays green if you try playing anytime soon. A day later, the same thing happens.

If you don't want to buy anything I would suggest first cleaning a game, try to play it, clean it again, etc. until it works. With luck, the cart will take enough dirt off the contacts so the toploader works again.

ive never examined a toploader in person but by the sound of the issue i would guess the game blanking after 1 s is the cause of the copy protection chip flipping due to some reason try lifting the pin and make it "region free"

Toploaders don't have regional lockouts.
