If I could name 20 things wrong with sellers, this would be one of them.

$0.19 item. $16.95 shipping. If he's not keeping $11 of that shipping, he deserves to make 20 cents only.

I'm surprised he didn't say you had to pay his Paypal fees as well.

I remember a guy who did this a while back...might be the same person but I'm not sure. He had such HORRIBLE feedback yet people bought his shit knowing his shipping rip offs. 5 dollar BINS on jackets and video games, and other clothes ect. and like 27 dollars to ship. I'm not kidding, 27 dollars. Then people would leave him a negative for waiting three weeks (and paying 27 dollars) and he gave a negative back saying it was an acceptable amount of time. Fucking asshole. Why doesn't ebay get rid of these ass clowns?

Why doesn't ebay get rid of these ass clowns?

Because ebay makes money off of them.

Honestly I really can't blame people who sell like this. I blame the people who enable them. Their bidders.

Ebay actually has a rule against excessive shipping. I doubt they enforce it but here it is:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-shipping.html

Excessive Shipping/Handling

The seller is responsible for determining the shipping and handling charges on listings, and eBay encourages sellers to clearly describe the item and terms of shipping and delivery in their listings to avoid possible confusion. Before bidding on an auction or buying in a fixed-price listing, bidders/buyers should contact the seller about any questions they might still have that are not directly answered in the item's description.

Sellers may charge reasonable shipping and handling fee to the final price of their item, providing that this fee is disclosed up front in the listing. A shipping and handling fee can cover the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. Shipping and handling fees cannot be listed as a percentage of the final sale price.

When a bid is placed, the bidder is entering into an agreement with the seller to purchase the item, which most often means incurring shipping charges that may also include handling fees.

In the case of disagreements between buyers and sellers regarding shipping charges, eBay encourages the parties to try to work the matter out. Usually these situations can be amicably resolved.

Actually, eBay makes very little off of them. Rather than get a percentage on $17.14, they get a percentage on $0.19. That's a nice way to scam eBay out of fees a buck or two, and should, by all means, be reason for cancellation.

Of course, eBay makes good money on the listing cost, which is getting f'in expensive these days- 50 cents is it? But that's not enough to please the stockholders.

I remember complaining when it was 30 cents.

It's blatant fee avoidance - have a look at his other items - a Jesus clock with for $0.19 with $33 shipping etc. Not a particularly Christian manner to conduct business in :)
eBay would probably take action if anyone alerted them to it since it's them getting screwed out of the costs rather than a buyer who can clearly see the total price up front.

Having Ebay lose some seller fees really donsn't bother me that much. Although I do agree about being the seller upfront and honest about the total cost.

Actually ebay is not making money of sellers like this. They make nothing on the buyer, and an auction that starts out at only .19 gets charged the minimum listing fees, which is about .35. If he has a buy it now it is an extra .05. Likewise ending fees on a .19 auction are going to be about .01. The only person making money of this type of auction is PayPal, if the buyer uses them. Even then the Paypal fee on a 17.00 auction would be less than .50.

Basiclly it is a cheap ass seller using the system to sell his items and getting around much of the cost of operating on eBay. I hate it when the "bidding rules" are 100 times longer than the item description, and I would not bid. However think if you needed those two games for your collection. If you had to have them then it would be worth it from a collectors standpoint to bid on this type of auction. I dislike it, but it does get the item to the person who wants it.
