I went to Toys R Us yesterday for some Gamecube games. Apparently there is a clearance of sorts going on there. Some games will come up half-off. I've only tried with GC games thus far, but I found these at three TRUs:

Some items have no price listed next to them, unfortunately. They ARE 50% off though.

If your TRU does not yet have an "R-Zone" (AKA Still uses the paper slips and pick-up area), almost every game that is not in the pick-up area is 50% off.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Sony-brand PSOne controllers are 50% off (making them $4.99), since all TRUs I went to had a giant empty space on the wall where they're normally displayed.

I've noticed that most of the games on the CC list are 50% off at TRU.

Also, nearly every 3rd party accessory I found rang up at 50% off.

The stores in my area did not mark down prices at all. I usually see most of the Game Cube game listed at both of them.
Took P.N.03 to counter, marked 19.99 on shelf, ask for price check, girl scans it, then looks at me.....

She looked shocked and said how did you know it was on sale, we chat for a while and she shows me the screen on the register.
Game scans in at $19.99 next line there was an option for a " Geffory Summercamp promo" or something like that that she accepets and price changes to $9.99.
she said her store got the memo and is rolling it out bit by bit, which to me means if you don't ask or question the price your paying full price.
most of the games listed had red clearacne or new low price signs for around $25.
I also think they pulled alot of the games from the shelf and will put them out bit by bit. All the tags for the games were in the spots with there normal $25ish price. With no shown pice cut I don't think these games just suddenly started selling unless theres alot of other gamers with the list in my area?.

Yep, this seems to be the case. The Toys R Us I went to didn't have the slightest hint that there was a sale going on. I went up and asked the cashier and he said that only some of them were on sale and pulled out a big heap of papers that contained the sales list.

At first I started rattling off game names to him and he'd look 'em up, but eventually he just told me to bring up whatever games I wanted and he'd check their prices using the register.

I printed your list and hit two local Toys R Us stores. Their list prices reminded me why I don't typically shop there. Anyway, combined I walked away with 23 unique Xbox, PS2, GameCube titles for under $190. Very nice.

FYI The ATV Quad 2 for GameCube didn't ring up discount, nor did PS2 Mad Maestro. Don't know if that was just a local glitch but thought you'd like to know. Everything else worked out swimmingly.

I only picked up Silent Hill 3 for PS2 myself. I'm about flat broke otherwise, plus at this point, I'd rather save up for my mame cabinet. My TRU also has dumped everything into several big bins and they've already been picked through quite a bit, though the clerk loaded another 25-30 games in there while I was looking through.

Check it out while you've got the chance! And play Donkey Konga on the Gamecube Kiosk while you're there! It's a blast!

And also, be sure to look up and down the aisles also. There were a good 40-50 games marked down to just about half price. ($50 games were $30).

FWIW, try going back on the 22nd when the sale supposedly starts. My TRU was taking the games and hiding them in the back, not letting customers leaf through them (myself and another guy who showed up) That didn't stop me from going through the shelves and picking up Sims, Onimusha Tactics, Time Crisis: Project Titan, and Point Blank 3.

Man - all the local TRUs here don't have any of those GBAs - all they have are those black ones that are TRU exclusives. They're giving away free copies of either Advance Wars 2, Donkey Kong Country, or something else (can't remember what) if you buy one of those @ 69.99 a pop.

I'm really looking to pick up 3 regular GBAs (Indigo / Glacier / Fuscia / whatever is cheap, but one of each) at that price. If anyone can drop that kind of cash I'll pay $40 for each of them + shipping to get them here. I'm also looking for the Donkey Kong (not JR or 3) e-Reader cards if anyone's TRU has 'em, along with Boktai. Or, I have some stuff to trade (like an extra sealed copy of Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis) if people want to do that + some cash.

We don't have any GBC, Dreamcast, N64, or other types of games, either. Man...TRUs around here stink.

I went to TRU this morning and asked about the sale. I felt I was asking for an illicit substance or something.

Somehow comming out in the suspicious wisper of a john propositioning someone they're not sure is a prostitute. The clerk paused leaned in and replied,
"Did you get a list somewhere or something?"

Fortunately the games were comming off, after searching breifly for the only two games I really really wanted (REZ, and Ikaruga) I settled on the few games I could get under the radar of my girlfreind, I mean common she has already warned me about spending too much money this weekend at the convention.
Anyway I picked up Deus Ex 2, XIII, Sphinx, and Tennis 2k2; contenting myself with the thought that I had made out allright I resolved not to go back and buy out the store. When I got home I started playing XIII and a plan came to mind, Chicks dig (or atleast understand) a simpsons understanding, maybe she would like the Hit & Run game, maybe if we go back She'll get more games. Sure enough when she got home from worked she wanted to go shopping, I quickly agreed. Back at TRU I got 6 more games but unfortouately Hit& Run wasn't there. :( Though I feel a little guilty I still made out like a bandit. Whiplash is the funniest game I have played in long while.

This is a great sale, but, first cheap best buy, then wildly cheap CC games, I don't think I can afford any more sales.

I printed out the list, and went to two TRUS yesterday and today. Everything went smooth and fine, well, I know in one store the salesguy well, he's an avid gamer and we talk sometimes about games.

I'm 11 games richer and $120 poorer. (among them Otogi, Secret Weapons, and Prince of Persia for the XBox). PoP for ten bucks, not shabby at all. :)

The guides are not one cent, unfortunately, but they are $7.50 (50% off) .

Argh, lousy PC gane selection in the local TRU. Tribes 2 for $55 CDN, Quake 2 for $45 CDN... Once again I must ask, what are these people thinking?

There were a couple of interesting historical oddities, namely Ubi Soft rereleases with French documentation. I don't think these have moved for years... At least they're not too ridiculously priced.

Nice deal.....here's the story as told to me by my helpful saleswoman. They have a 110 page document (looked like Excel printed out) of items that fall into the 50% extra category (store wide) and its just your standard "gotta move this shit for room for next season" I was able to browse through the games and electronics pages and unfortunately most of the good stuff was long gone since they didn't have many in stock to begin with, but I was able to pick up

Prince of Persia XBox and Super Monkey Ball for $20

Also at this TRU, all of the games that fall under the 50% off are marked with a neon green price sticker

TRus is usually not good for videogames. They sold Eternal Darkness for $50 long after Gamestop sold it for $15.

...but this sale is really good.

TRUS is not doing very well, btw. Walmart has a bigger marketshare of the toy business than TRUS as a specialized toystore.

Well, I found another TRU today, and they were indeed selling Tron 2.0 for $9.99 CDN, over 50 % off the regular price. That was pretty much the only thing of note I saw in their PC section, but I'm happy now.

Oh, and that $55 CDN copy of Majestic I saw there last year? They've still got it... for $55 CDN. (The stacks of unsold Treasure Planet CD-ROM games are only slightly less unsightly.)
