Hi, can anyone tell me if there are plans to release an 8th edition of the classic collectors guide? I saw on here the current version is from 2002 and read elsewhere the idea was to release a new one every year and a half or so. Thanks!

Originally there may have been one at the end of this year, but Joe I think has decided to wait until at least middle of next year. So get in there and buy the 7th edition now if you want it :)

Sure, but do I get to trade it in next year for the new model? LOL

Sure can, just add $25 and Joe's usually ok with that.

We've been putting that book out for so long that it's quite possible I'd offer some kind of "half price" on a returned book. From my experiences with our customers over the years, however, the books themselves are ALSO collected. I'm often asked for Editions 1-6 even after I explain that they're outdated. There is still *some* original material in each edition, like the pictures and LORE entries.

As Mat said, I'm looking at late 2005 for an 8th Edition right now.

But why wait for the 8th, when the 9th is due in 2007? And gosh, the 10th is due another year and a half after that!

As some point, you just gotta suck it up and drop the $25. Otherwise, you'll end up in a nursing home -- old, decrepid, and Guideless.

I hummed and hawed about it since there are free internet guides for the
systems I collect for. But decided it might be handy just for NES and 2600
rarity. But the greatness of the guide is its coverage of other systems. I
know most of it I won't ever collect but there are great articles about
every early console most of which I never knew existed. And the section
where people have their memories of the time is wonderful.

Even though I don't collect anything in the upcoming Advance guide I preordered anyway because I know it will be a great read. I hope DP
makes a guide for arcade games.
