Oh man. That is bad for PS collectors who dropped over $100 for that thing. I am sure it will have a completly different cover though and the original will still be rather hard to come by. Like the players choice situation.

Well, at least the packaging will be different. Infogrames vs. Bandai
But this sucks. I didn't pay $50 for my copy, but still :/
Maybe this will make it cheaper to track down the original case and manual. I would replace it for $50 real quick,

I am glad they are rereleasing it. I hate how people get pissed because someone releases a rare game again.(Final Fantasy Tactics) Get over it and if you over paid you are a sucker for thinking that any PS game is rare right now. It is still open season for that system. Now if they were rereleasing a Saturn game or older then I would sorta understand.

I don't get it. Sure, the game sells for $100 on Ebay but is there really enough demand for this title to warrant a re-release? Especially if the game is as terrible as I hear it is. Does Infogrames really expect to make that much money off it?
kevincure
08-15-2004, 02:40 AM
I *still* would be amazed if this actually happened. EBgames often lists games that don't come out. I can't imagine there's much profit to be made by rereleasing this game. Still, I'll contact Infogrames and see what I can dig up.

Money grubbing whores? Because they see a good opportunity in which they can both make money for themselves and provide the chance to allow any and all gamers to get an affordable copy? They're doing gamers and collectors a FAVOR. The only people who are getting screwed over is those who paid big bucks for it, which is an extremely small number of people. Not to mention it was totally their choice to do so and anyone who bitches about a re-release on a console that isn't even dead yet is just being a fool.
Sorry if I'm being harsh, but it annoys the hell out of me when collectors act all snotty as if the general public should be denied the opportunity to play a game just so their purchases can hold their value. :/ It may be a crappy game, in my opinion, but I'm happy that the average Joe can at least give it a try now.

I find it strange that it has no pic when it's coming so soon. Also, doesn't Bandai still have the licences for DBZ stuff? Odd. Regardless, if it DOES come out, the original WILL drop in value somewhat. But if it's different packaging (and it should be) then it won't drop too low. Personally, I think if you're buying games for investment and spending $$$ on em, you're in the wrong hobby. Not everything will hold it's value...especially really bad games like Final Bout.

Seeing how I'll b at work in 2 hours, I'll see if it's in our pre-order yet. They have screwed up before (listed multiple PS2 budget titles in the PSone preoder chart) so there's a chance that this is a mess up from one of the GBA videos, or possibly a completely different game.
I'm not too worried, especially considering it's only started pre-ordering 10 days before release? I smell something odd.

I don't think it will affect the price much. No one buys that game to play it anyway. Then again now that people can actually get it to play they may not want it after seeing how bad it is. I'd still shell out the big bucks for an original sealed copy.

why?why would any company want to re-release this horrible game.i know it is a dbz game, and there is alot of dbz fans, but this game really is bad.i bought this game when bandai first brought it out to america, thinking it looked cool.then i made the mistake of actually playing the game.i traded it back the next day.so,i didnt get to sell my copy for a huge profit or anything.but,i guess if people are willing to buy ultimate battle 22,they will buy this one as well.i would rather play the sfc dragon ball z games any day.

Infogrames does now. They released UB22, the GBA games, and Budokais.
But I still though Bandai would have rights and liscences to Final Bout, seeing how they already released the game and all....

Don't count on it holding it's value. When Final Fantasy Tactics was released the value of the original dropped to nothing. Before the re-release it was selling for close to $100, Now it's $10-20.

Hey though im a collector, i DON'T have this game yet. Ive yet to get my hands on a copy that was either complete or didnt want to sell for 150, and im not willing to dump 150 on this game.
Im mad that this game, which is horrible, is being re-released purely for Atari to try and swoop in and make some quick bucks. If most game companies were like this, then games would be getting re-released all the time based on secondary market values (garnised mostly from ebay), but they dont. If Atari really had a deep desire to release this game earlier they woulda dropped it with DBZ: Ultimate Battle 22, a game that went to GH status based purely on the name, not for any good that this game might of had (of which there was none). Both of these games are horrible and make little children cry out in pain, not in joy as you attempt to play it. FF:Tactics was re-released because it had a short run, was an excelent game that the gamer truly desired. However they didnt wait 7 years to re-release it like Atari is now doing.
Im hoping that this will drop the price down a notch or two on the original one because im still planning on getting it, but I have a feeling that people are now going to try and sell it as "The Original" which is oh so r4r3!111!! and thats going to keep the price pretty stagnant.

No actually thats not all that uncommon for one of those titles to run for. I think that price got inflated some (being that its incomplete) but ive seen those games complete easily run 175+ with out a hitch. I still dont think that this thing is going to drop with a re-release of the game, it will just make it the rare original release.

Something amusing...
I was checking the actual sku numbers in the PC today while closing, and noticed that this new DBGT game has an all new SKU set (meaning it has a different ring up/trade in value than the original DBGT). May be a red herring, but none of the other re-releases (be it GH, PS2 GH, etc...) had their numbers changed.
One wonders...if this isn't the same game, and this new sku is not a fluke...maybe it's..Dragonball Legends in a new skin? O_o
I also picked up GameDay 2005...impressions as soon as I play it. ^^

man this game is getting rerealesed! It is like the cooooooooooooooooooooolest playstation game. you can train your character to level 200 this game is definently worth buying if you play the build up mode. the controls are pretty good.

From what I've read, I wouldn't be surprised if the game was re-released, and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't, either.

What a load of horse dung. This is probably one of the WORST games that I have ever played. It was not even worth making a Back-Up of. FF Tactics was a decent game that had some depth, but c'mon DBZ:FB is hardly playable at all.
I totally understand people spending retarded amounts of money on a rarity (Radiant Silvergun, yeah I know that name is invoked far too often). But that game is at least playable. Maybe this will teach those that collect crappy games to think first before spending tons of ca$h on rare crap (because it's still crap). But also, for the sake of the ownders, I hope there is a label variant. I can't see why there would not be one, don't most games have the publishing date on the rear cover?

I could care less if this game is released, actually I hope it is, just for the hope knocking all of those DBZ psychos off of their "I'll do anything for it because its the rarest game" pony. If it comes out it will most definitely devalue the original more (come on people the original usually wont break $100 on ebay anymore) like Tengen Tetris this game is not ultra rare and people are finally realizing this, DP rates this at a R6/$80 which is right. I want this game to fall in value. I've owned two copies of this pile of plastic and I'll be the first one to say it sucks and its just not worth the hype and there are plenty of other games that should be worth this much instead. I got a copy from my friend for free and it worked but had a crack in it and I instantly sold it for 65.00 on ebay. The Playstation won't show its true collecting colors for at least another 5 years yet (look at snes and genesis) their just picking up now so assuming this game's rarity at this time is pointless, in the future I see this game potentially moving to a R7 (original release that is) and falling to the $50 price range. Anyone care to comment on my 2 cents?

what are all of you talking about? it was actually a decent game for 3d, its the best dbz game out, you can do meteor attacks which is cool, you can use ultimate moves and press the triangle button repeatedly if both players are trading shots or you can defend against it instead, you can also build up one of ur favorite chars which is cool. I bet most of havent even played this game, and if u did u didnt play it for more than 1 min because it was 3d.
It had sluggish controls if you only use puch and kick buttons, that wasnt the point of the game.
I could careless if they re-release this game cuz i only bought it for $40 when it came out, i only wish i bought 100 when it came out. o well no harm to me

I actually rented the game back in the day, and beat it, and well, I gotta say, the game was pretty damned bad. The controls/gameplay were sluggish as all hell. The graphics? Weak sauce. I mean, the sound and such was nothing special. The opening FMV was kind of cool, I enjoyed that.
I mean, the playmodes really weren't that spectacular either. The game was just lame. Simple as that.
Now granted, that's just my opinion obviously, and if you like it, well then, awesome.

I played that piece of trash years ago quite a bit, as my friend kept renting it. Best part of it-the mini-infinites you can do, since just about every move combos into itself. The slow pace is friggin stupid-why does turning around take 3 minutes? The lineup was awful, you had like 4 Gokus, 3 Trunks, and a few other characters who played basically the same.
No. No one can tell me this was a good game. It was an awful game. One of the worst Fighters I've ever played.

You really like this game? I have it, and it I have played it a total of 10 minutes. It is now put up, never to be played again. 10 minutes isn't enough play time for most games if you want to offer an educated guess, but fighting games are different. The original Toshindin is better than this crap... hell, I'll take Zena on the N64.

I am glad I did not pay $100+ for it. I rented it and the game was total crap. If the voices were in Japanese with Subtitles I may buy the release, but knowing Funimation and Atari they will just redub it over in English with the current voice actors.
