What are some games that you've played lately, but you really sucked at the last few times you tried them? This topic comes to mind, as I was playing Ikaruga about ten or so minutes ago. I was in disbelief at my extreme suckage against the chapter three boss. Not only did I die many, many, many, and I do mean many, times against it, but I destroyed it with a close four seconds remaining. Lame. I'm not even going into chapter four... what a debacle. I folded against the last boss, with all of my credits drained. VERY lame. :o
So what are some games that you're rusty on?

Donkey Kong Country
Back in the day, I managed to blitz through that little gem in less than a month.
These days, I'm stuck about half way through. :o

Super Mario Bros.
For some reason, the last time I played it my timing was totally off. I kept getting killed by the stupidest things. Guess I just have start playing it a lot more and get back into it.

My Soul Calibur 2 skills have fallen way off course. I never have anyone to play against. The local arcade shutdown not to long ago. :(

Last year, I put in Legend of Zelda and was having a tough time with the first dungeon!!! I don't know what happened but I eventually finished the second dungeon but my game was so off, I just put it away and haven't attempted it since. I'm going to pick up the GBA zelda soon. I guess I'll get to see if it was just a bad night for Zelda.

Phalanx - used to be able to beat first level without losing even on life. Now i almost have to use a continue.
Super Mario Bros.- reduced to using warp zones and still cant beat the game.

Super Mario Bros.
Also, whenever I pick up a Mario Kart game, I usually suck at it for the first few races as I take some time to get used to it. Then I'm good :)

I used to be good at the first SC, but last weekend I played my cousin at SC2 and he handed me my head on a platter. The first SF2 is probably the only fighting game I can just pick up and compete at without practice.

I suck at all games, it isnt even funny anymore.
I used to be real good (not the best, but still pretty damn good) at soooo many NES and Genny games, and I have gone back to play a bunch of them, and I cannot do anything in them.... I even suck at Dr. Mario.... I used to beat everyone on teh two-player mode, but my non-gaming GF has beaten me EVERY time I have played her (which is a lot, because I am a sore loser and keep on hoping to beat her at least once) lately

I think I'm doomed to suck at the first Mario Kart for the rest of my life until I seriously put some effort into getting back into it. Mario Kart 64 is still my favorite to return to, and it feels the most natural.
Anyway, to answer the topic - every game. o_O With the exception of Star Ocean games (and even then I sometimes get a little rusty after not playing a particular title for a long time), I'm out of practice at EVERYTHING. I have too many games, too little time, and too little motivation. As soon as I finish off a game, it goes back into storage and likely doesn't see any play time for a LONG time (assuming it ever does again).

Exactly.. old racing games like SNES F-Zero, Mario Kart, and Genesis Super Monaco Grand Prix. I used to have such intense races in those games and could beat the highest master level in F-Zero (or in any of them for that matter). But now.. I can't even get past one race in Super Monaco without crashing. x_x
There are a lot more examples I know.. Just can't remember them at the moment :P

Shooters seem to be the genre I tend to be hit and miss on. Sometimes when playing for example Zanac, I will plow through the game barely ever dying at all, and then other times I'll be getting killed constantly.
This especially happens to me in Gradius games. I remember when I first played Gradius Gaiden, I managed to get through the first two stages without ever dying once on normal. Now whenever I play it, I always seem to make a stupid mistake and die within the first few stages.
