Well finally got around to making some new shelves for the gameroom. Have a look at the latest. I haven't finished organizing and placing everything where I want but the rough setup is done.
Alan
Joe feel free to use these pics instead of the ones I have posted in the Game Rooms section here. This looks just a bit more organized :)

That is great! It is a very impressive collection!
I had that same Pacman carpet in my basement years ago, but unfortunately a couple of floods ruined it. Any recommendations on where to find a Pacman carpet?

All I can say is taking my wife to the flea markets with you :) She has found 3 of them over the years. Has a nose for them apparently as one she found just by seeing the barest corner of it from 4 booths away :) As for online - and not ebay - I don't recall having seen any of them available for quite a long time.

Wow, what a great and organized looking room!
When I die and go to heaven I hope there are that many sheves there. My wife hates shelves but I love them. If I had my way I would just put shelves on every wall, floor to ceiling, and be done with it.

NICE lookin' setup there, bro. I too wish my game room was even half that organized - it'd be a big step up from the chaos that it is right now!

Very Nice Setup. I love the atari board games and the toys on top. I"m thinking about putting a bunch of my video game toys on a marble chessboard I have. STEAL MY IDEA AND DIE j/k

Very impressive, that NES shelf looks very neat. What's the stuff with rounded corners in the last photo under the computer desk?

Nice collection. Looks like a complete NES collection in there. Care to take a guess at how much you've spent on all of that or is that too personal?

david:
Those are CEDs. A video format before LaserDisc. The player is under the black Laserdisc player above the TV.
midgey:
I would hesitate to even guess. I would say over the years there is probably about $30K spent there. Just don't tell the wife :)

Very impressive 8-)
Is it just me or is the wood starting to bend on your NES/2600 shelf? @_@
It might just be the picture though.

hehehe actually they are starting to bow from the weight. When I first built that shelf about 5 years ago it held my meager collection of NES carts with a lot of room to spare and little weight on it. After rounding up all the carts and putting them on the shelf they have started to sag. It also doesn't help that those shelves have the widest span of any of them in the room. I will probably end up cutting that shelf in half vertically and making it into two shelves so it isn't quite as wide.

i have a stack of selectavideo disks too...never had any idea about the player though...are they tough to find? i just bought them cuz they were cheap, and i thought they were cool.

How can you have all that great stuff and play it on that small ass TV set???
AlanD
08-16-2004, 05:42 AM
Alex: It is a 21" TV and works well considering the size of the room. A 32" which I had in here for a while just made you feel like you were sitting a foot from the screen so it went to the bedroom instead. Eventually I may go up to a larger TV but it'll probably be after I move on to the next house and I have a lot more room.
qbert: They are Tomy 3D handheld games. Yellow one is Jungle Fighter and the white one is Thundering Turbo.

wow, great job on the room. i share and respect your obsession with having things ordered just so. if you have the time it would be great to see a photo spread dedicated to your gaming bric-a-brac: the figures, promo items, board games etc. on that subject whats the trash can next to your ms.pac man one?

I have a great quality 14", a 28" 4:3 and a projector and most of the time I choose to use the 14". It's sharp! The projector is purely a party item.
I guess what I'm trying to say is not all great things come in large packages. ;)
AlanD: I just goog'd a bit about the CED, that thing is rad! :)

Holy S%#! Thats a major difference than your last pics!!! TONS AND TONS OF GAMES!! Nice setup and nice shelving job!
PS: Where are the boxed nes and snes games? :(
AlanD
08-16-2004, 02:18 PM
Stark:
Everything is by company then alphabetical except for NES which has all the licensed stuff in staright alphabetical order.
Yup that is a car battery. Wife works at Advance Auto and that is an empty battery shell for display purposes. The cover lifts off and I use it to store change. Better story would be to call it my UPS for the computer :)
Greg:
All the boxes are in the attic stored away except for a few systems. Somewhere around 1500 boxes up there right now. Also the whole left side drawers of the dresser the TV is on is full of manuals for games.

Crazy Climber cocktail
Donkey Kong Jr cocktail
Ms. Pac/Pac cocktail
Tempest
Gauntlet 1/2
Gyruss
Galaga
Gaplus
Elevator Action
Joust
Neo 4 slot
and a Desert Assault that will shortly become my MAME machine
plus:
Comet pinball
Black Knight pinball
Pennant Fever pitch and bat
several pachinkos
jukebox (in storage)

That many boxes and manuals!? Damn. Just no room for the boxes huh. I love having the boxes for games on shelves, they just look cool to me. Great improvement from the pics that were in the "game room" on this site...though that was still nice.
