Now that i'm working on my DC collection a little more seriously, it amazes me how often lots come up that are almost excusively comprised of copied games. Isn't this illegal on eBay? And if so, why does it happen so often?
It seems ebay finds and hunts down prototype auctions within hours; i'd imagine that copied games would be dealt with even more harshly. Regardless, it's very irresponsible to let these auctions go on.
Does anyone on these forums do anything about said auctions? I've been tempted to report each one of those sellers, but i've 'grin and bare it' stance so far.

Yes it is illegal. With the amount of auctions on Ebay it's a lot harder to stop every auction that has them than you think.
People can make easy money off of copied games, DVDs etc. Which is why it happens so much. If you pay attenstion to the wording on those auctions it's pretty easy to spot. I generally won't waste the time to report them. It's generally a losing battle kind of like with NPBs. If I know someone is thinking of bidding on one of those auction and doesn't know it's copied stuff I'll mention it to them and if they still bid on them it's there choice.

Really sucks finding this kind of carp on ebay all the time when you're looking for legitamate auctions, but with the amount that it goes on, it's impossible to stop it =\.

It also makes it hard to get any actual money if you are trying to sell these games...
PC, DC, GBA... bleh

If you see a person selling a copy of a game purchase it and send him a blatant copy of a $20 bill as payment. I think it would get the point across quite well

Is'nt copying one of the reasons that is blamed on the Dreamcast's failue?
For that reason, I'm surprised we don't see more copied PS1, PS2, and XBox games. Is it just DC that has this problem?
The dreamcast can do this with no modding the other systems require mods, to play cdrs.

Copying probably contributed to the Dreamcast's failure but there were other things that cause it as well.
DC is one of the easiest to copy for as you don't need a mod chip or converter to play copied game. Making self booting games is pretty easy from what people say.
There's plenty of copied stuff for those other systems. You just don't see it as often on Ebay as you do at other places.
