...is there anything special about the GameCube Cases?? I mean as in those Holes in the bottum that seem to be for locking it up or something...

Also what kind of case does the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Bonus Disc come in (the one not bundled with the GCN)?

GCN game cases did not have holes in the bottom at first--I just pulled out the following games that do not have holes (They were purchased at release):
Super Monkey Ball
SSBM
Pikmin
Luigi's Mansion
SA2:B
Pacman World 2
And the first game that I have that does not have holes is Super Mario Sunshine (My GCN games are organizd by when I bought them), although Pacman World 2 was released on March (something in the teens or early twenties) and SMS was released on August 26th, 2002, so there is room in that time frame for changes.

There are 2-disc GCN game cases, like the one used for Metal Gear Solid: TTS and Mario Kart: DD!! (with bonus disc).

my copy of luigi's mansion does have the hole...and it is NOT a player's choice version....so, it changed with manufacturing dates, not release dates

I dont really know what those holes are for but im sure thiers a good reason for them -- As for the MP2:Echoes, it will more than likely come in one case like Mario Kart:DD, Metal Gear, and Resident Evil which has an extra holder for a 2nd disc, demo etc.

I've always assumed these holes are there for security purposes at rental places like Blockbuster. Check ou the dvd cases there and you'll see it's almost exactly the same layout. Ignorantly, Blockbuster still swaps the liners and discs into their own cases most of the time, basically voiding any time putting the holes there saved in the first place.

When I saw those holes, the first thing I thought of was sliding the case onto a metal pole... one on top of the other... for display purposes.

Hmm.. I guess it would make the most sense as a display of some kind. No idea either though.

Its a hole designed for rental stores to be able to lock. The locks are usually bright yellow and just slide inside. Theyre magnetically released. The video store I used to work at used them on all of their DVDs. They actually work pretty well until one of the two catches gets twisted inside and it won't come out at all. Only way to fix it is to cut the case open.

Anyone know where to purchase the two disc compatible GameCube cases, I know that nintendo.com has them available but only in regular single disc format it seems.

Thanks :)

2-disc cases are available on Nintendo.com:

Unfortunately, you can't get them in sets of five or ten like one-disc cases.

Hope that helps!

Also, my copies of 007 Agent Under Fire and Metroid Prime don't have the holes, along with SSBM and Pikmin which were previously mentioned.

EDIT - Didn't realize joshnickerson beat me to the link. Then again, it would have been much easier to tell if something other than "doy" had been typed.
