Jeez I've never seen this on ebay and thought I never would. This was given out as a radio promotion in japan. yea it looks like a hack but it was officially released by nintendo (well promotionally anyway) if you want to read more about this game go to http://classicgaming.com/tmk/annsmb.shtml

If you guys get pictures, post em, I'm interested in this as well....I can also tell you if it's a pirate or not. Most people can't determine FDS pirates from the real thing. O_o

Tank

So how do you tell if the disk is a pirate or not? O_O

Yep, check his other auctions:- more Famicom items with pictures of boxes, carts, etc, so no excuse for not having a picture of his prize item.
Shame, that.

Emailed him for pictures. Just for the hell of it.

If there is ever two games on a disk, it is from one of the disk writer machines or a pirate (this might be considering how it was only in a contest and very unlikely that a disk writer machine had it). I have yet to find one with a manual (I assume it had one).

So did anyone get those pics of the actual disk? :hmm:

No picture of the disk. Guaranteed pirate.

I was thinking just that, plus i'm sure someone here must have heard about it before, i guess there's always the chance it is real, only time will tell.

The Pics don't seem to work on the "new" auction? but it does go to show that the original auction we were talking about could be in fact genuine ohhhh! O_O

What the hell does Nippon mean? i see it in Samuri Shodown, i see it on ant killer powder, and when i checked, it means to decorate with a black enamel or lacquer (but i think that is the western/world use for nippon)

I'm thinking it means number 1 in Japan!?!

When I think of Western and Easten world's it seems an ill concieved description and really outdated not to mention rather a bi-polar way of seeng things. Nippon seems to be the word "Japan" in Japan, better find some gaijen to ask. Something to do with culture and they seem to have a private culture there that they would rather keep to themselves rightfully so if history has taught anyone anything, probably also why the word isn't very well known either. Sounds a little bit like nipple too. ;) :-P

All Night Nippon I think was (is?) either a radio program or radio station in Japan at the time. It was given away as a promotion in a contest or something.

Not the best quality but I cannot seem to find one on Y!AJ. I saw one there once.... I don't believe it had a manual, though, which I assume it should (considering the following scan IS the manual) ...

This was in fact an official release. I have a book (actually 2 volumes...one fds, one cart) listing of all the official Japanese FDS games. It basically a japanese encyclopedia of all things FDS and Famicom, and it is indeed there, pictures and all. I forget the name of these books, but for all collectors, these books are indispesible to me....they are the best famicom and fds reference ever. I have an old thread about them somewhere...

As for Nippon, it does mean Japan. So basically, the radio program was called "All Night Japan."

better find some gaijen to ask

Ummm, why? Gai=foreign, Jin=Man. Gaijin lit.=Foreign man or foreigner. Well, I'm a gaijin to the Japanese, so I guess I'll work, heh heh.

The name of the two book set is Fami-Complete. it is indeed an invaluable resource for Famicom collectors. It has a listing featuring every game released for the Famicom and the FDS. Each listing contains a box shot, a cart shot, a title screen shot, a game screen shot, and a short write up.

Oh.

Yeah.

The set is in Japanese.

Here's a photo of my set. I snagged it on Ebay for about $40.

http://img50.exs.cx/img50/4093/Fami-Complete.jpg

The book on the left contains only Famicom titles and the book on the right contains FDS titles and any leftover Famicom titles. The item in the middle is a carboard case that houses both books. Like those big fancy dictionaries with the magnifying glasses.

Yep, That's it....now, I wish I could find the thread I told everyone about these books in, but I cna't. There was another book that was in English and Japanese that listed all the games by their release dates instead of "alphabetical" (syllabetical?) format. It had some great interviews with some of the greats in the game industry (Miyamoto, Naka, et al...). Crap, I wish I could rememebr the name...

Ah ha! Found the thread:
