Out of the blue, I received this email today:

it's been a while since I 've been looking for this game and am so far still unsuccessful.

The game: at the start you are given an option to choose a planet to play in then you fight and kill the enemies in that planet kill the boss then a a jet -fighter comes down and after you climb into the jet you start fighting with with enemies in space after you kill the boss then you are taken to the screen where choose your net planet. This goes on until you complete all (six or seven) planets then a metal planets is the next automatic choice this planet is not in the choice of planets.

I thought the name was metro-cross, but then I guess it was just the box the at arcade that was written that. I use to play this game back in 1990-91.

I don't even know the person asking this, but I figured I'd do the neighborly thing and answer the question anyway. Trouble is, I don't recognize the game. Does anyone here?

I'll be sure to refer the sender to DP for all future queries... :)

LoL, sounds like lightning force on the genesis to me. But as arcade titles go, I've never come across one like that.

I was thinking Thunder Force at first. But since it says arcade I am thinking Galaxy Force??? I could be wrong. Go here www.klov.com\
It is a good site for arcade information.

Galaxy Force was the best (back then). The graphics were AWESOME and the spinning cockpit... LOL WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! The Best. Sega should release that game in a promotional package like they did with the PC and some Genesis titles. Only make this for current consoles. Games could include Shadow Dancer, Alien Syndrome, Golden Axe II (revenge of Death Adder), Galaxy Force II (as it was called, although I never saw part 1 :o ) and others I do not recall at this time. I would buy it for sure. :D

Good plan, except Sega would have to get copyrights from Techno Soft. They did release Thunderforce AC along with Sega, per KLOV, but Techno Soft released Thunder Force games on other systems with nary a mention of Sega. I'm not sure who owns the franchise now, but of the list you posted it's the only title that's not a Sega first party title.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I emailed the mystery person with your suggestions.

Hmm... the KLOV page for Thunderforce AC (the one Ed Oscuro linked to) says:

This game was ported over to the Super NES in 1992 as "Thunder Spirits".

I quite enjoy Thunderforce III, but didn't know there was an SNES port. How does it compare to the Genesis version?

Not as good. It was kind of one of those ports where they really didn't improve it much or take advantage of the Snes from what I remember.
