I am sorry but if you reserve a new madden knowing as little as you do about it and seeing nothing about it. You are just a mess.

Madden is becoming worse than cocaine. Sigh...I can't understand this. I feel really sorry for people who work at eb games. Everytime you poor bastards pick up the phone:

"Thanks for calling eb games where you can pick up the amazing spectacular unbelievable brand spanking kick ass new Madden 2005!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah...how can I help you?"

Oh, I'm speechless, Madden 2006 is opened for preorder? Got to reserve one, plus maybe another one to keep them sealed for my collection :wink 2: - sarcasm. LOL

Seriously, I wonder why people keep buying this crap every year, my colleague's son has Gamecube, and his entire collection is sports game, from Madden 2002 to you know when, all they do is making this Austin, MN native rich and fatter, this lazy f$%k talks and says stupidest thing during the games, anyone can say that crap.

Because people buy what they like to play.

Why is that so hard for people to understand?

It's simple.

EA is afraid. They're afraid that in the next few months, people will realize that Sega's game is better, cheaper. So they want to pull a Sony. They will get enough people to commit to the next version they won't want to get out of it and they'll just buy the new version. EA is a pussy. Can't take a little competition.

lol what a retarded post.

what do they have to be afraid of? they will still sell more than espn regardless of price. and whether or not espn is a better game is VERY debatable.

They are afraid. Plain and simple. EA cannot take competition. They see people buying NFL 2K4 and seeing how good it is, they want to get people to commit to their game before people have a chance to form an opinion.

Game stores will order a shitload of them, preorders have nothing to do with EA directly. This is the game stores' doing. They want to ensure that they sell through most of what they buy. Many preorders go through un-claimed, at least they do at the store level.

If EA itself was offering preorders through the EA store, I'd understand that comment.

I won't doubt they're a bit scared, though. It's been a while since a rival football title has gotten this much pub. Sure they're going to outsell them, but how much you wanna bet they'll leech onto what makes ESPN fun, and incorporate some of it into Madden 06?

Seriously, I wonder why people keep buying this crap every year.

Why do people keep playing stupid KOF whatever year all the time? Why did people buy all the Street Fighter 2 games? Why because they enjoy it. So piss off and leave people alone. I am just tired of all the negative posts about sports games. If any company has a chance to compete with EA it is Sega.

Quit with the elitist attitude they are just videogames...

My guess is this is to squelch the internet rumor that's been circulating that says since Madden is retiring, than there will be no Madden 2006 game from EA Sports. Open the thing up for pre-orders, squelch the rumor, and make some bucks on the side.

Geez. put off that hostility, makes me wary of posting anything.

I wonder if I should ever reply to this, but there's NOT A SINGLE WORD in my post that has mentions of any NG games, and I was partially joking. But that statement was largely true, these types of games cater to mainstream gamers, I'm into sports games, especially arcade style, just not EA.

A better question than why they buy it is why they are willing to pay the price for a full game when you rarely get more than a SPARSE expansion-pack's worth of changes every year...

-Update roster
-Graphical tweaks (usually, once in a while an overhaul)
-A few new modes
-Minor gameplay changes (hit stick comes to mind)

Nothing that justifies paying full price for something that doesn't take a full price's worth of development to create.

But it DOES take all year to make the game.

There was a article the AP did last week taht talked about the games. The programers go to work on it as soon as the new one is released. They spend about three months on the design phase, talking about what they want to do and making plans for it, and then the rest of the year programing. Doing the faces takes a few weeks each. Doing the stadiums takes just as long. Add in all the players and staidums and that's a LOT of work.

and a lot of the stadiums and players stay almost exactly the same.....
and even if a player switches teams, you only have to do up a new jersey, not their whole body

I complain about people buying Madden every year, but I complain for a different reason...Because if these people would set there schedules a year off and buy Madden 2005 when Madden 2006 comes out than they'd get it for 5.00 instead of 50.00.

That's the only problem I have with people buying Madden.

Why do people buy systems on launch day when they can wait a year and save $100? It's the *same* thing. Actually not quite - at least with a new Madden you get some incremental improvements. In the console example you're still buying the same console.

I'm *really* getting sick of the anti-Madden stuff. It's just a *game* people - and a *damn* good one whether you want it to be or not.

I do think that preordering any sports game is ridiculous. I don't bother preordering *anything* anymore unless I get some cool freebie with it (like the Zelda Collector's edition game). The idea that I won't be able to buy a game when I want to is laughable (unless it's super obscure).

Okay, there are times when you HAVE to pre-order a game to make sure you get a copy! Stores will often base their purchase of the B titles based on pre-orders.

I just pre ordered a hour ago Gallop Racer 2004 for the PS2. How many copies do you want to bet the store gets in? LOL

When I pre-ordered Metal Slug 3 and went to pick it up, I asked how many other copies the store had besides mine. ONE -- ALSO for a pre-order. :D

So don't knock pre-orders and don't knock sports games. 8-)

Azazel
08-20-2004, 05:58 PM
Yes but there's no reason to preorder a sport game. If they really had a low production run that would be one thing, but with sports titles you don't have to worry about that.

Madden 2099, same crap, same price, same retards drooling over it...
And they used to say that drugs were lucrative...

Come on, why people lose time playing sport games instead of getting their fat, greasy asses of the couches and actually PLAYING a real sport, with real people in a real sunny day? LOL

I know what you're saying, I just don't agree with it. I guarantee you I can get a copy of Gallop Racer if I want one. If I don't go right away and grab the one or two copies they get in for non pre-orders I can eventually pick it up used.

I'll admit that if I were from a smaller area my perception would definitely be different.

(And can the Madden Trolls find another thread to pester?)

i was just going to say that actually. i am no mod, but no matter your opinion, this thread turned into another "I hate Madden" threads (which means half the people say why they don't like Madden, and the other people are very hostile towards the Madden Haters). I personally don't play Madden just because I suck at sports games. I can't explain why I am so bad, but I am.

I do not think there is a need for people to be so hostile towards each other. Just chill, it's only games people.
