So far i´ve never seen a copy of the genesis blockbuster competition cart
IF its so rare, then i guess its even rarer than the NWC!!!!...
Does anyone know how many confirmed copies exist??
Thanks

I would like to know this as well. I'd also like to see a picture of the damn thing so I don't happen to overlook it while I'm out and about. =D.

IIRC Tynstar told me that he knows someone who owns a copy....i think he said it was Portnoyd....but stillll...its got to be very scarce.....I wonder how many copies really exist

I know that Portnoyd has one.
I think i remember him saying that there are only like 6 known ones or something to that nature (but I really dont know for sure).
He's leaving for CGE this morning so he wont be back around here until Tuesday, but I'll ask him if I remember when i meet him at the Airport tomorrow morning.
Im sure that there are a few other Genny masters here that know though.

So...theres just ONE confirmed copy in existance? This game is more rare than a NWC and any other r10 cart i´ve ever seen...!!
I´ve never seen a blockbuster cart in 5 years of browsing ebay!

GunPanther claims to have one (he mentioned it in a post here), but when I pm'd him about it he never replied.. that might be because I also asked if he would sell it though. I wish he would post a picture of it though so we would know that there's at least 2 known to exist.

Joe Digitalpress should have one too. He does have a complete Genesis collection.

So that makes it... 3 copies? I didnt think this game would be so unbelievably rare!!
Maybe It could be the most rare 16 bit game???

I dont think he has one. He had a complete US released set. The BB cart was never released for sale.

To clear this up.
Portnoyd's is the only one known to be in a collector's hands as someone already mentioned.
Joe as well as many others who collect Genny (including myself) do not have one and are therefore in line to buy it off of portnoyd. I did have a picture of it, but it was on my old computer. :o If I can find another I'll post it.

I think i will delete it from my genesis wish list. If only one confirmed copy exists, then its IMPOSSIBLE to be able to find one on ebay or in the wild
Fellows...this is the most rare 16 bit game

BlockBuster threw away alot of there classic games from the NES, SNES, and Genny era. I know the 2 ones near me did at least. What are the chances they got tossed?

I'll show you all what one looks like when I find it.
Hahaha...but yeah seriously. Wtf does this thing look like? I demand a picture.
Is it an R9? Seems to be a 10 to me.

Whoever does the Genesis section change that to a R10 because it is the only known copy as of now and a 9 doesn't make sense.

That's what I was thinking. Doesn't make sense to have it a 9 when pretty much NO ONE has it. I guess it's based off of known production?
But even still someone did mention they destroyed their old carts.

Jesus. I can go onto eBay at any time and find a MS-66 1931-S cent, maybe a MS-67...it'll be decades until the Blockbuster cart is seen as a true rarity, but this really makes one realize that these games may end up getting a good fraction of the coinage in terms of value...oh my. Actually, wouldn't this game easily be a low four figures cart? It's already a good fraction of the coins.

I´d rate this game a R10+++
By the way the pictures pasted above are, AFAIK, from the game factory cartridges from blockbuster. I never lived in the US but i think those cartridges were rewritable. Those are NOT the blockbuster competition cart

I saw and held the cart earlier tonight. Its real plain actually, and much like DonkeyKong Comp Cart, its a time based thing. The label is just a white label that says Blockbuster Competition, and has the games listed and below that is a buncha copywrite info. Pics should be up on the site somewhere.
Games are NBA Jam TE and Judge Dredd.
Port said that as far as things are there is one known copy currently on tab, his. There are probably a few more out there, but the people who have them dont know what they have.

I dont think that is the cart. The Game Factory carts are different me thinks.
