How many different types are there? And are there any "limited edition" models besides the Panasonic one in Japan?
I'm just curious because I've never been a big GameCube fan, and I only knew about the first two that were available when we got ours shortly after its release (purple and black).
I bought a silver one used, and I'm wondering where it fits in. Is it special in any way, or just another color variation? It also came with an orange controller (in addition to the silver controller). Was there an orange system or is that a controller variation only?

Some mint white cube (japan LE- anyone have some more info?)
Thats all thats on my head right now. Might be all of them.

A follow up to your original post.
In japan there is an orange spice gamecube, while here we only have orange spice controllers. :(
The platinum cube isn't like the platinum GBA it is just a regular color. Not LE like the original GBA color. I must say the platinum cube is niceeee though.

I beat you to it. :P
But the zelda, metroid (which is out), and the one you forgot Mario Kart dont have any system variation. They just come as a bundle. Different box and insides.

go to www.ncsx.com and go to the Shop link at the top of the page
then go to Gamecube - Hardware - and on like the 2nd or 3rd page you will see these joy pack bundles that come with clear controllers

Woops! I thought you were talking about the US bundles. Those still aren't system variations though. I need to pick one up so I can get that awsome clear controller though. :-P

Some people say mentioning Hitler is a surefire way to kill a thread. On this forum, all you need to do is type Hyphen, Hyphen, Greater Than.

Seems it's too late now. The page is screwed up.
The problem is that for some reason, whoever designed and edited the code for the forum, makes it keeps a SECOND copy of each post, in Comment tags. Yeah, so literally, the pages are twice as big in reality.
And what happens is when someone posts that special sequence unwittingly.. you know.. Hyphen, Hyphen, Greater Than.. It tricks the Comment into closing too early.. Throwing off the Tables and causing the universe to spin out of control. So now, the thread is dead. It's not your fault. It's whoever coded the viewtopic page.
Well, at least it's all back on one column. No more scrolling. But until we hit the next page, this topic is dead.
*sigh*
Hitler.
