It's easy - your NES emulator doesn't support mapper #5 (no idea which that would be, and I've forgotten what the name of the CVIII mapper is, sorry!~)

So...try again and it may come successory with improved CONCLUSION.

Maybe take a look @ Zophar's listing.

Get FCE Ultra. It's the best NES emu in existence. :D

Again, sounds like your emulators has compatibility issues. I find the best stratedgy to use is having two emulators installed. Your primary and a back up that'll support games the other doesn't. I like to use Nester and FCEUltra myself.

Yes 5 is the mapper for the US Castlevania 3. The import version used a slighty more powerful mapper from what I remember.

The name just came into my head: VRC6 (also referred to by the folks at Nester, at one time, as "Mapper 24") for Akumajo Densetsu (CV3j). There was also a VRC7, amazingly; I believe the US version of CVIII used the Nintendo MMC5 (whatever the standard was; guess it was this one, Memory Mapper Chip being a probable expanded form of the abbreviation).
