Any1 seen the specs on planethalflife that say a 700mhz processor will suffice?
is this true
well my friendwho isbeta testing cs:source has got it running on a p2 on low qulaity although there is almost no differnece it is not tellable
what are my chances of running
hl2/cs:soruce on a 1ghz p3 256ram sd and a 32meg nvidia geforce 2mx
not overclocked?
also he said he got decent fps......
Thanks
Not very good. Go get your self at LEAST a MMX 440 and some more ram, then maybe you'll get a decent frame rate.

I don't know of much that CAN run on that. I'd say you need a decent upgrade because the way there talking, the graphics may rival those of Doom 3. And I'm only getting decent quality gameplay with my 2.8 GHz P4, 512 Ram, 64MB Radeon 9700.

you may not need the whole upgrade. i've read that it will run on every pc so, uhm, those are rumors only.
Also the graphics don't look all that impressive mind you.

Ignore any video card that has MX in the title.

This isn't a radical departure for Valve. The original HL was designed to run even on piddly 133MHz machines, which at that time were relatively slow. Blizzard does the same thing - they allow their games to "scale" so that you don't have to have the latest and greatest to play it: 2- or 3-year-old computers can do fine (although it won't look as nice). And note: Blizzard and Valve sell a lot more games than, say, Ion Storm / Looking Glass, whose games have always run poorly even on the highest-end systems as of the game's release date.
It's not quite like the market for a console, where # of consoles = potential audience. When it comes to the PC, the lower the min specs, the greater the potential audience.
So why wouldn't they shoot low?

You MIGHT be able to run HL2 with that... its the video card mostly that will kill you, you can pick up a geforce fx5200 128meg card for like 80 bucks or less....the video card should be able to make up for the lesser cpu speed and ure small memory, but seriously you need yoursellf a new pc becauce the only think you will be running eventually will be microsoft works

get a decent video card. At least a geforce 5600, or a radeon 9200...
GOOD THINg for you that Hl2 is less demanding than doom 3
I play CS:source perfectly on my athlon 2800, 1 gig of ram and radeon 9800 pro...
