If anyone has some questions please ask me as I am sure I can answer them. Now I need to catch some shut eye, the party went pretty long tonight.

The stuff sounds about right. I am not seeing anything taht you might have missed.

To fill in regards to the beer. The final auction for the night was a bottle of corona and a lime for it. Portnoyd and a few others began to bid back and forth on it getting it to about 10 bucks for the bottle. A few people threw a few dollar bills at Portnoyd to help him quench his thirst as the bottle worked its way to 40 bucks. Soon there was a 20 from me, a 20 from Sean Kelly and 20 from someone who was just behind me as the front 3 rows were now working together to win the beer. When the dust settled there was a final cheer as Portnoyd called out the 134 dollars. He then proceeded to get up there and take his prized bottle of beer and Chug it as we all called out Dave Dave Dave!!!!!!

It was truly an amazing moment. Ive got a pair of pictures of the chugging of the bottle. I will get those posted tomorrow.

ahahah...thats pretty awesome that you guys got $100+ together for a good cause just for a bottle of beer....its good to see that people are willing to spend their hard earned money on others and not on stuff for themselves.

How much would that Bambino boxing game be complete? I have one with box, styro, instructions??? Just curious

Don't know, but that reminds me of another funny. After the winner was sitting down with it, the seller remembered they did have the box and passed it over, but it looked like it'd been through a war. John had to pause until the laughter died down.
I kinda think the proto PS2 snowboard controller was the best buy of the night, it was one of a kind. Wish I made a play for it.
There was a big collector behind me (won't mention his name) that was entertaining. When the bidding got high on that APF lot, he said "those make good donor carts"
We thought that Quadrun loaner cart should have gone higher. He said he'd sold the released ones for $400 each in the past.
Wasn't there also a second card auction for Al Acorn's business card? And also think there was a (very common) Xonox double-ender that went for a high price.
Not too many off-color jokes about Janice during this auction. Wondered if she layed down the law after last year :)

Holy hell. The two of the things I was intrested in the most sold for hella cheap. The 6800 card, and the BeatMania stuff. Makes me wish I was there even more...

Nope. Just a cartridge and mint record. Probably worth somewere around 400. My dad bid it up to $500 from where I left it off at $350, said he wouldve paid the difference. Me and Shawn kelly got the point to him though that he shouldve stopped awhile before.

Janice is a Model not a booth babe and if you are good at reading people you can tell she...

Well, lets just say she isn't interested in classic gaming.

I for one found Janice quite sweet. Even if she's not into classic gaming, she's still a good person, a very pretty young woman, and was a good sport about hanging out around the lot of us. I didn't get any grief when I asked her if I could get a photo with her. A nice young lady. :-P

Well if you wanta sell it I'd give you ten dollas shipped for it. It will go good with my Music Machine (http://members.cox.net/j_riezinger/images/mmachine.jpg) ;) Seriously the Record is no where near as rare as game. There's also an 8-track of it as well. I'm suprised I have haven't ran across the record before now, since I'm down in the bibble belt..

So, I skipped the first 3 days of college to go to CGE. It was a blast, you have to come next year.

the comments on other threads about somethings going way too high or somesuch, you have to remember that many of the items were going for charity and meh so what if you hand them an extra 10-30%...nothing wrong with that.

starfox weekends ended dutch at 250 not 260.

I'll have to reflect on Chunk's sentiments here a little. It's much more fun to see a bidding war and items go for high prices in the name of charity. More fun than dropping a $5 in the donation box later in the evening.

Hmmm, do I sense a bit of primal, illogical female jealousy? Some chicks just hate pretty chicks for no reason, as far as I've seen in my life. It's just a standard thing to do for women to look at other women they've never met, and say, "skank," or "whore." Never happens when the chick is lesser on the looks side than the one doing the insulting, thoguh. No sirree, it sure doesn't.

I was frankly amazed at how high the Music Machine cart and record went to... the cart loose (as it was) is about $150 worth. Meaning someone got a very expensive vinyl dinnerplate there ;)

But the beer auction was the best naturally 8-)

Yeah, it was a lot of fun. I had to get *something* and snagged that $60 Power Strike. Wish I had enough cash on hand to join in the Starfox Super Weekend bidding.

Picked a bad time to relieve the bladder though... was gone when Mr. Hardie announced that the Power Strike was missing the manual @_@ But I'm still glad I did it, for the kids and all. 8-)

Seriously, who criticizes over a $60 item won at a charity auction. I'll make a note to avoid you next time, cheapskate.

I had a tough time telling which items went to charity and which didn't. I had a very short list of charity items and, like I said above, I was relieving myself when the Power Strike went up.

I don't care how much of an expert someone is, making fun of what people pay for things is obnoxious (especially when it's what, $30). I knew full well what it was worth, but I wanted it RIGHT THEN. :D

I understand that I may not be everyone's favorite person and that there is some controversy over the whole spokesmodel thing. I apologize if I have offended anyone....

All in all I had a great time and as long as I am asked back, will continue to attend the CGE :)

I don't think you have to apologize Janice...you didn't do anything wrong. Regardless, it was a pretty rude statement. You are a good person who is very friendly and I was happy to meet you for the second time.

Some stuff in the auction sure fetched $$$ but keep in mind most or all of the $$$ went to a good cause (special olympics)...
Which I wished I had donated some stuff to help !

Anyways yup I have 3 complete power strikes plus one power strike with color cover....

Me 2 I laugh at the man at the cge2k4 who tried to sell me a brazilian sms game for $50 it was even missing the manual what a joke ! I can get many brazilian sms games complete and new for $20-30 each ! So I guess he thought I was idiot abt sms games nice try ! I have the most rarest sms games in my collection including unreleased prototype, and complete james buster douglas boxing and many more ....so I know a lot about sms stuff as well !

I also have popolous for sms sure I'd love to sell mine for $50 but that'd never happen it went for a lot in auction simply because the $ went to a good cause excellent work done by the CGE crew !

On the subject of the beer auction and the "20 from someone who was just behind..", that was me!!

I really thought the bidding would end with the nice round figure of $33.00. I think it should have ended right then and there with Portnoyd and the DP crowd. But someone just had to be a wiseguy and bid it up to $35.00. I think it was at this point that my bid lust kicked in. Well,,, and the fact that I support Special Olympics (in a monetary mode) outside CGE too. Didn't matter that I would not get the beer this year.

I am very happy that others already had their dinero on the floor by the time I had pulled my twenty out. The cause was great, and spectacle for everyone else who was watching the bid war was entertaining.

Before the Auction started I caught up with Paul Newell (Vectrex Developer) who was going to call it a night after the end of the show floor and sessions. I encouraged Paul to stick around for the Auction saying it was one of the highlights of the show. Paul and I talked again later and he agreed that staying for the Auction was worth the time spent. The beer being the capper to it all. In this case it was the uncapped, foamy good fun at the end of it all!

BTW, the price of that beer made it worth more that Louis XIII Cognac. A fairly expensive item that goes for $125 a shot. Someone should tell the distillers they are wasting time aging their product longer than a month. ;-)

Hat's off to John for once again being a great Auctioneer and his part in raising money for a good cause!

Wish I had enough cash on hand to join in the Starfox Super Weekend bidding.

A pity... as one of them was mine ;)

Any item that was solely for the charity was stated by John when it was brought up, so there theoretically shouldn't have been any confusion about what was private and what was all going to the fund.
