Thats right, your ears heard right. DPers, you can rejoice! My friend and I are writing a home-made guide for vice city! This guide is "More Complete then the Official Guide!"

We're going to sell copies of it on ebay [email it as attatchment after you win]

We're giong to sell them for 5 bucks a piece, but they're worth it, for they are better then the Bradygames guides, and much cheeper too!

The things you will get in this guide are:

-All Missions
-All Rampage Locations
-All Weapons
-Full Vehicle Database
-Hidden Packagse
-Cheat Codes [Every one!]
-Glitches [Including the infamous "Tommy can't fall off the Motorcycle"]

And more!

Because you guys are so cool, and I've known you a long time, I'll sell em to you guys for 3 bucks a piece. Yes, that's right, three bucks a piece. You can buy them on a specialized ebay auction that I'll put up just for DPers. If you'er not a DPer, I'll cancle the bid.

'Nuff said! Who's in?

If it isn't a licensed guide Ebay will pull them. People don't like it when you don't pay the royalties.

Don't pay.. the royalties? Huh? What's that?

My friend has sold many guides in the past on ebay that he has created and profitted, so I'm willing to try to do it, hoping it doens't get pulled.

so, who's in?! :/

...or you could just go to gameFaqs.com and get the same information for free.

(BTW, royalities are those things you pay to the creator of something, in this case GTA, to use their trademarked and copywrited property. There was a big thing a few years ago where Nintendo sued makers of unauthorized Pokemon guides and, AFAIK, won.)

Well of course we'll credit Bradygames, Take 2, Sony and Rockstar! :P

So I ask for the third time, ( >:( ) Who's in?!

I'm not going to pay for something like that. Like Someone already said, you can have it for free on gamefaqs. And if you're even a little smart you'll get all your info from gamefaqs too instead of making one yourself.

Of course you can make a guide for the game without approval, in the same way that you can write about a movie w/o approval. The problem in the Pokemon case was the use of Pokemon images in the guide without authorization. So the deal is, legally:

Guide: ok
Guide w/ copyrighted images (such as a big drawing of Pokemon on the front): not so good

Well then, Imageless the guide shall be!

If no one wants to help me out and buy the guide, that's fine.

I'll hope that some dumb ebay saps will not know about Gfaqs. :D

Crediting Bradygames as using their guide as a jumping board seems in the same pool as using licensed images. Afterall, Brady did have the OFFICIAL guide.

Please don't use the free guides on gamefaqs as a spring board either, because they are free and intend to stay that way. Remember to paraphrase and correctly cite your work. They did them without profit, so remember, don't take credit for any work they did.

Oh, one more thing. Please remmber to use a spll checker, especially for packagse.

OK Achika, thanks for the advice. I'll follow that strictly.

The problem is, you can't charge money at ALL. Gamefaqs is allowed to stay open because the guides are FREE. If they started charging, I guarantee you they would be shut down immediately, like anyone who charges for homemade guides SHOULD be.

"Giving Credit" to Bradyguides, Sony, and everyone else just doesn't cut it. Unless you're in Hong Kong, it's not going to be legal, and Ebay likes to close auctions that ARE legal anyways :)

My first reaction was to reply..

" Hey Kess Im selling punches to the face for 5 bucks but Ill give you a discount!"

But then I remembered your age and I in fact used to Make Mortal Kombat Guides with all the moves and fatalities and draw some pics of Scorpion and shit on the cover and sell them for 5 bux a pop in Junior High. Made enough money to buy 1/2 oz. of marijuanica almost every week for me and my buddies.

If you are gonna type out all the information from your own knowledge and make some cool original artwork for the cover and whatnot I think its a good idea and wish ya best of luck.

If you are just copying shit from websites and strategy guides thats stealing other peoples work man.

Actually, Sothy; I'm doing this from my own memory, but I do have the Bradygames guide handy, in case I forget how to do a certain part of a mission. Even then, I don't copy word for word, I put them in my own words.
