I read about this phenomenon in the 10 Year Anniversary issue of Giant Robot Magazine. It's a pretty interesting little operation...

Personally, I think it's a pretty great idea. The invaders that I've seen never appear offensive. If anything, I'm sure they're capable of inducing a chuckle or a smile.

To all the DP-ers in NYC/LA/London/Manchester: You have the ability to go out and hunt for some of these things. There are maps on the site that should tell you how to get to some of the invaders. You can make a day out of hunting the things down. Or not. Whatever works.

Anyway, I thought these little pieces of art were neato. Perhaps I'll begin an invasion of Houston/Dallas...

I have to add to this after discovering the "Space Invader" sneakers for sale on the site.

Certainly those could be considered collectable, no?
