I just got a regular NES with a brand new pin connector, two controllers, the hookups, the gun, Hogan's Alley, and Mario/Duck Hunt for $45. Did i get ripped off or was it a good buy. I checked eBay but i didn't see any with new connectors? Can anyone help me out.

First of all, I hate the new connectors, so that isnt a selling point for me. Refurbishing an old connector is the way to go. I wouldnt say that you got a "good deal" or that you got ripped off. It's more than I would pay for what you got, but by no means is it a rip-off. I personally wouldn't pay more than $20-$25 for what you got there, but that's easy for me to say because I already have a NES. If I didnt have one, and I was REALLY wanting to get one and pay it, then I would probably pay what you did. I'm sure that others will disagree with me.

Its over the common price. But not expensive enough to be a rip off

If it is your first nintendo.. don't sweat it. If it was my 1st nintendo.. i'd be pumped

That is right around typical dealer price, at normal fleamarkets and such. Just sometimes you can get a way better price at garage sales.

So, get another nintendo at some garage sale for 5$, turn around and sell it =D

Not too bad, about what I payed for mine before I started thrifting.

assuming that there wasn't any shipping tacked onto $45, and that you don't feel like searching/waiting for a $10 one at goodwill, i say you paid about what it is worth. the important thing is that it is worth $45 to YOU.

i like hogan's alley too, especially trick shooting...i wanna make a drinking game of that.

Connectors are fairly cheap and are a cinch to replace. You did over pay by about $25-$30, but if you just bought it to play, then its money well spent :)

Super Mario Brothers for the NES came out in 1985 and I still play it today. Looking at it like that, that's barely over a buck a year for a classic game AND a console to play it on!

Yeah, you might have found a better deal at a flea market, or you might have spent half that on a blinking or otherwise dead console.

Forget about the price -- go save Princess Toadstool! And when you've had your way with her, check out the Top 50 Nintendo NES Games (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1159&highlight=nes) thread and get to gaming!

I guess thats about market price for them.
The last 2 I picked up at thrifts were 12.99 each. One had several games bagged in as well. ;)

New connectors are cheap and easy to find.

Its a little high since you can get them for cheaper on ebay right now, but you have an NES now so who cares!!

Not incuding the shipping. would end up costing $45.00. :)

$45 is a good price for a bare bones (with ac, av/rf cable, controller) NES. Even if you get one off eBay for $25, you still don't know if it will work good or if it's dirty or with a lot of scratches. :)

Hmm...garage sales (assuming anybody still puts these out) would blow that price away, but you know, it takes a lot of looking to find something like that, even if it's common.

I bought a NES in its original box (all mint) for $40 earlier this year @ Goodwill (w/ Mickey Mouse game in the slow), so it's up to you to decide if that was a good price. I'd say - set your sights higher if you can, but don't feel you have to pass stuff by you want. Stuff you want to buy because you think it's worth money...well, that's tricky.

I don't think much about garage sales, as probably 99% of those who were going to rid of their NES did so a long time ago...

I will pay $45 for an unboxed NES...though it would have to be in NICE physical condition. Actually, I won't buy any NES that isn't in nice condition, as that system is very light and shows wear and tear really poorly.
