Basically James Lothridge (AKA Dave Reinquest, AKA Sega-sage) is a THIEF. The package arrived today and it was INCOMPLETE

He didnt send me Pirates! gold (the most expensive game of the lot). He also didnt send the nomad AC adapter

The nomad is a non-working piece of junk: the brightness button doesnt work, the ac port is loose, it doesnt work.

I now understand why James Lothridge was SO desperate insisting for me to cancel the paypal claim. I will email him tonight and tell him i want my money back, and i will return all this JUNK to him.

Thanks again for your attention.

I was the one that tested all the stuff. All the games work but the system is junk. :(

Pirates! gold alone is worth 40 US...its a shame it didnt arrive

Well well well...i got a message from him. He says he "might have" forgotten to send Pirates! gold, but doesnt say a word about this piece of junk (and non working) nomad.

He's a sly one (at least he thinks he is). Don't even bother dropping the claim until you get this shit over with. x_x

somehow i knew something like this would happen.
Sage whined for a nomad for so long and seemed to merge with it when he got it.....selling the nomad seemed fishy...now we know why.
Best of luck pedro.

Being the first time i've sold stuff on this forum, I pray that nothing this bad happens from my side dealing with the mail.

Buying wise i've done it alot so it isnt so bad, but it was from a trusted friend.

Hopefully everything works out in the end for you Pedro, I wish you goodluck.

Being the first time i've sold stuff on this forum, I pray that nothing this bad happens from my side dealing with the mail.

Here's the thing ... I've done around 200 eBay transactions. Before that, I traded video concert bootlegs through the mail. I have about 100 of those, which means I also mailed out 100. Out of all of those, do you know how many packages got lost?

0.

I've *never* had a package lost in the mail. In reality, it simply doesn't happen that much. There are people with 10,000+ feedbacks on eBay that are all 100% because nothing's ever been lost. Sure, sometimes orders get mixed up, or the wrong thing gets shipped, but in my experience, the post office is (despite half of eBay seller's claims) pretty gosh darn reliable.

I am sure packages have been lost before and I'm sure someone will pipe up with an example following this post, but the reality of the situation is that it simply doesn't happen that often. It's just like credit card theft. The day websites started taking credit card orders, I was like "damn, that's a great idea!" I've been buying stuff with my credit card on the web for ten years now. Never been burned, never had my number stolen or used by someone else. Never. And many of those transactions were for stuff outside the US.

Be smart with who you do business with and it will go a long way.

1,700 Ebay transactions and the only items "LOST" were items sent overseas.
And I think they were stolen. :o

So yea , I'd say the mail is pretty reliable.

Quit dealing with this clown. Just go through with the claim. You don't need to prove crap to him. He knows he sent you a non-working unit and left out a game. He's just stalling for time.

I'm confused about Tynstar's relationship with the seller, I missed that somewhere.

I live in Mexico. All the stuff I buy from ebay and DP is shipped to Tynstar in Arizona. He keeps it and sends it to me every few months in big lots.

Tynstar received my stuff. And i will stop dealing with this CLOWN (James L.). I will let the paypal claim go on. He refuses to give me back my money and assures that the nomad was working when he sent it. He also insistys that the packacking was proper. (Then i wonder why the unit looks like crap now?).

He also says he must have forgotten to send my pirates because i was rushing him (I wonder if it can be called like that. he sent the stuff almost 2 weeks after my payment).

I sent him an email asking him to give any ideas on how to solve this problems, even though he doesnt seem very interested in solving this deal.

Ah okay I missed that part. Well if it was broken when Tynstar saw it then there's your witness. Unless he wanted your good one and swapped it out with a crappy one he had (cue conspiracy music here ...)

The Nomad ... is out there.

There is something very important that people created here in this forum, that is callet trust. I have done deals with kamino twice, I even have some money as credit with him because of something that happened at last minute but I never claimed him as a bad seller because I trust him, but sometimes we happen to find some rotten apples on our paths like that dude(Lothridge)

I have known tynstar (Scott) for a long time. I know my best friend would never do something like that.

And Scott didnt even have a Nomad anyhow ;)

The paypal resolution claim finished today. They say that the seller sent proof of shipment so theres nothing they can do. For all they care, i couldŽve received a box a oreos instead of the nomad, and thats perfectly fine.

I talked to Dave Reinquest last night. he said heŽd send my pirates!gold and the ac adapter and that i should get it by next tuesday (thats september 21th). He also offered to fix the nomad if i send it back to him hmmm :hmm:

At the moment, i will just wait for the pirates!gold and the ac adapter to arrive, and i will *consider* sending him my nomad for fixing....

Since you paid by credit card, credit card companies (for the most part) side with their customers. As far as I can remember right now, PayPal must receive a notice that said items were shipped within 7 days of payment. However, those credit card disclosures wield you more power than you can imagine; they not only protect you from situations like this, but even if you are dissatisfied with a product or service. I had a similar incident when I purchased a FF White GBA SP and the melon head claimed they mailed it when they didn't, so I called my card company and they reversed the charges to PayPal; this forced a new case with PayPal and they'll e-mail you telling you that if you do it again, they can close your account (because they want you to go through their system and not your crediit card company). Believe me, you're not screwed at all. I have a Nomad here so if it comes down to it, I'll see what I can do.

I'm sorry to bring this topic back from the dead, but I'm a bit confused. My name is Andrew Fiori (a somewhat active member of both Atariage and the CGCC). I use this username (The Sage of Sega) on both boards. I was checking the consolidated good/bad traders list on AA recently to check that my name was on the "good" list. It was listed with and without the word "The", so I had no qualms about the listing. I was ready to switch topics when I decided to check the bad traders list just for the heck of it, and discovered that this Dave Reinquest fellow was listed on there, with an alias EXTREMELY similar to mine. I Googled his name and it lead me to DP, and now that I've read this entire topic, I feel that this man (with his Sega-sage name) might somehow damage my credibility, even though I have no relation to this person. I'm curious as to when he started using this alias, and whether he derived it from mine at all. I'm aware that he could have used this alias accidentaly without any knowledge of my existence, and that I could have done the same to him. To the members that have been scammed by this person, I feel your pain, and hopefully this mess has been resolved since the last post in this thread (September 19th). I haven't been a very active member of this board, but since I'm looking into this, I might as well become active :) .

Mr. James Lothridge stole 115 dolalrs from me. His nickname here in DP was "Dave Reinquest", and his nickname in IRC channel #vbender was "Sega-sage".

His email address is sambaexmachina@yahoo.com and webmaster@victoly.org

His website is victoly.org

Sometimes he steals money with his wifeŽs account too in paypal. Her address is joyceelaine@hotmail.com (or something like that, so BEWARE)!!!

I too had dealings with this crook.
The first dealing, this swine claimed to have a virtual boy part. I sent him a case and manual and never recieved the part.
We later squared on the second dealing when I sold him a NES.
The third dealing, I bought a black tengen cart from him. He never sent. I still wish i could have warned Pedro(suppafly) of this swine, It is regret I will carry for years.
Anyhoo, I filed a paypal complaint and got my money back for that. Pedro was not so lucky; xenu was also ripped off by this punk and I do not know if xenu ever got his THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS back.
Sorry for the confusion. Pricks like lothridge screw up things for everyone else.

Thanks for all the info, especially the email addresses. I'll contact the bastard and get this identity thing fixed up. It's just a suggestion, but if enough people have been scammed out of enough money from this guy, you might be able to send his local police after him (happened on AA with a different guy). It might not be a viable solution, but it's worth a shot if anyone knows his mailing address. :)

If he's dead, then I have nobody to hassle :P.
But... maybe, to avoid all the fraud he committed... he took "the easy way out" (i.e. self-inflicted stabby-stabby). I'll get him in the afterlife once I die at 80. That should take... 65 years LOL

This thread seems to get frankinstiened quite often..lol..

But anyhow my 2 cents is go to the IFCC (Internet Fraud Complaintl Centre), It is a division of the FBI. I had to use it once myself when I got ripped from a guy for about 100 bucks. As soon as the FBI sent him a fraud investigation report he shit his pants and I got my money back. Just a thought for you people that have had trouble with this fella. Also there is a mass claim option where you can all go in together as one big claim agenst him where you are all witnesses and vitims to the same crime (which you are). Trust me I know the law quite well and this will at least be an option for you to try to recover your losses (cash or goods its all the same when your talking fraud).

Just a friendly helping hand from your local neighbourhood..... Silver Surfer!!

Here is the link below, I do recomend you all go in together as it will fortify your claim(s).

Hope it helps any\all of you get your just do.

Another good way to get your money/items back from this guy is to call the local police in his area. Someone on Usenet ripped me off a couple years ago for a Virtual Boy store display unit that I paid him $75 for but never received. The dick never replied to my emails after that, so I called the cops and a detective paid him a visit in person. A week later, the VB display showed up on my doorstep with a long letter of apology from the guy.
