PAL accessories on NTSC and vice versa?

I was just wondering, does anyone know if,,, say for example

A UK Megadrive Menacer Gun, would work on an American Genesis Console?

And Vice Versa?

Is it the same for other consoles and accessories?

Do accessories from one side of the pond necessarily work on the other side?

Well, I know for sure that Japanese Saturn guns work on PAL consoles and European SMS 3D-Glasses work on NTSC units. So I guess that would/could be yes. ;) :D

The only conflicting accessories that I can think of at the moment are some dreamcast guns, but i cant remember which one is incompatible with which, nor which guns :o

I've had trouble with US SNES joypads on a PAL console before, but that's about the only one I can think of.
